I loved the way Sheens could put players in unexpected positions to confuse the other team.
Selection was a mixture of sense and non-sense. So with that in mind here is what Sheens might have done.

1. Chris Lawrence
2. Marika Koroibete
3.Blake Ayshford
4 Curtis Sironen
5 James Tedesco,
6 Benji Marshall
7.Braith Anasta
8.Aaron Woods
9.Robbie Farah
10.Keith Galloway
11.Eddy Pettybourne
12.Bodene Thompson
13.Matt Utai

bench Lote Tuqiri (2nd row replacement) Adam Blair (just because Sheen's was happy with him all this season) Tim Moltzen (otherwise Benji will be upset) Ben Murdoch-Masila ( well, that's because I actually do want him in the team)

Sheens would have put Marshall as 7 and Anasta at 6 for sure.

Bodene Thompson would have probs been winger and Woods a replacement half.

Skando is a top notch sports scientist ... after playing he did a cert III at minno TAFE. Perfect grounding for a gig as head conditioner of 30 or so athletes meant to be in top physical shape

Now we know who is staying and leaving. My team would be:

1. Tedesco
2. Utai
3. Ayshford
4. Lawrence
5. Kirotebete
6. Marshall
7. Miller
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Blair
12. Fulton
13. Anasta

14. BMM
15. Pettybourne
16. Bell/Thomson/Fou
17. Moltzen/Simona/Siro/Nufoaluma/Fotuiaka

Not too sure how we should structure the bench but I would definitely have BMM and Pettybourne as 14. and 15. As usual we will cop a lot of injuries so it's good we have a range of talent in our roster

while that is probably going to be our starting line up Jim (although I wouldn't be surprised if Tuqiri starts instead of Utai, who will go to the bench) it does show a glaring issue with our defence up front at 11 and 13.

I'd love to see Fulton and Bell in the back row as starters, but it just won't happen cos neither Blair or Anasta will like that.

Yeah I agree with you that their are concerns but I think Anasta's value in attack and kicking game in general is too valuable to pass up.

If memory serves Blair was a gun defender when he was in top form. He's got the talent he just needs a form turnaround. Bell is solid and I would probably keep him at 16 for round 1.

Anasta will be one of most solid defensive players too.
Hopefully it rubs off on the rest of the squad.

I doubt Potter gives a shit what Blair and Anasta like or dislike.
They were Sheenius' selections.

I hope he doesn't.

Anasta is a better defender than Blair.

He's just a bit on the lean side to tackle with any venom. Much like a lot of Fulton's tackles.

Blair tries to tackle side on too often.

We don't need to follow Sheens practice of selecting a back on the bench.

With Fulton and Anasta in the back row, either of these two can fill in (or reshuffle) for an injured back.

Get back to running four pigs on the bench and rotate them properly....don't burn Woods and Galloway out.

It has been so long since we had a logically reasoned bench I don't think I will know how to react when we have one

I'd also like basically the same team with Bell starting at lock however, as stated, Anasta does give us a solid kicking game and more ball movement to our attack. The other problem is even if Bell doesnt start we are still light one prop. BMM should be one interchange prop but I would also like to see him get some game time as an impact second rower taking crash balls close to the line out wide.
