Wasnt Blore here while Madge was coaching ? From memory there was sooking amongst the group he was flogging them to hard, they seem to cry regardless how they are coached.
I think your right. He's now an ex Tiger and who cares about the crybaby. Like Matterson he now is being let go by the eels.....boohoo.

Madge is made for coaching rep teams ...as far as developing a winning roster from a general stockpile of players he's been as unsuccessful as anybody else. Most good coaches could have won with what he had at Souths then he failed to make the finals for the next 6 seasons. His sell for getting the WT job was that he would make the 8 with the roster he inherited...he didn't come close then got worse each season after. No one else gets more of a go than that.

Looking at an assistant coach for Benji.
Whoever it is, I'm thinking we should get him right now to help organise the squad for the preseason.
Any thoughts?
I'm thinking Brian Smith who threw his hat into the ring for the Eels job, but missed out to Ryles.
He's the third most experienced NRL coach - 601 games.
The only prob is an assistant coach practically runs the training sessions these days so is he up to it. He is 70.
If Benji needs experience in the coaches box then surely Smith could do it.
He's mentoring the Casino Cougars atm.
Thoughts? Anyone else?

f**k Smith. Ryles can have him.

Back in 2014, the board along with CEO Grant Meyer brought Smith in to do a review of the club. Instead of doing the right thing and backing Mick Potter in his second season as coach, Smith threw him under the bus. Smith wanted to get himself a more permanent role, either as head coach himself or as head of football with his former assistant and grand final halfback Jason Taylor filling the role of head coach. He submitted a report that recommended sacking Potter.

At the end of the season, the new five-member board chaired by Marina Go adopted the recommendations of the report. They stated Potter would not be extended as coach, sending him packing and shortly afterwards hired Taylor as head coach. They also appointed a head of football, but Smith's plan to parlay his consulting gig into a fulltime position backfired, with the board appointing another Eels alumni Phil Moss to GM of Football Operations.

Smith's advice lead to the utter obliteration of everything Potter was building. Potter's pack was gutted. Gavet, Taupau, Blair & Galloway were all moved on in space of 12 months with no one to replace them except for falling star Tim Grant. Despite having a bunch of money, the only outside backs Taylor was capable of recruiting were such luminaries of the game as Jordan Rankin, Justin Hunt and Kevin Naiqama. Naiqama was terrible defensively and Taylor stubbornly refused to drop him. It got so bad that Tim Simona started placed bets on the wingers and centres Naiqama was marking.

The board ended up sacking Taylor, but I don't why they thought it would help keep Tedesco. Not only did they sack the very coach after Farah had convinced Tedesco to stay and play under, but they did mere months after that conversation took place. They then hired a bloke that forced Farah out, dismantled the promising forward pack and was incapable of improving the backline despite having blokes like Josh Addo-Carr right under his nose.

It's not all Smith's fault, but he's got a lot of blood on his hands and there's no f**king way I want him anywhere near this club.

Morris is currently defence coach and Farah is attack coach.
I think we need a defence coach and move Morris to attack coach position.
I'm not keen on an old boys coach, unless you could get someone like Gareth Ellis, but there are always good options about. But don't know who is available.

Where's that article Forty, I'd like to have a read, a lot of info, well done.
Coching and admin shouldn't mix imo.
Just stick to coaching.
We all know what a bunch of tossers our boards have been over the years.
I just don't think a raw coach like Benji will get it done, even with all the additions of Jarome and co.
We need someone who knows how to get up once you've fallen over. You can't buy experience.
I refuse to believe that if we got Bennett years ago we wouldn't be in this predicament.
