I hate thinking about next season one month into this season but with all the player movement speculation at the moment it's impossible.
If we were to lose Keating and Mateo we are obviously going to need some help in the halves and the only halves available which wouldn't be massive gambles are Thurston, Kimmorley and Hornby.
It seems clear that re-signing our current players is Plan A.
If that doesn't work then obviously we are enquiring into Thurston potentially wanting to come down as Plan B. However recent articles suggest it is Cowboys and Biarritz neck and neck down the home straight while the rest of the pack are only now leaving the gates.
Hornby I doubt will leave the Gong and I don't think he is what we are looking for (although he may bring a different attitude).
But what about Kimmorley?
1. He's a rep halfback, kept Johns out of the 7 for NSW & Australia
2. He's premiership winner (granted a decade ago)
3. He's got a decent long kicking game
4. He's a general who won't be afraid of telling anyone what to do (my current gripe with our current halves)
5. He won't fall into the "next Sterlo" category because he's already established himself - it'd be similar to when we signed Taylor and history speaks for itself there... though we didn't win the GF...
