Not sure what to do for dinner. Should probably just cook the pasta I was going to make for Michigan, but feeling kind of dubious after the dumplings early :(

Yum cha is the same thing the yanks call dim sum...basically it's morning or afternoon tea, although it's been westernised as a lunchtime thing mostly. They wheel out trolleys with all sort of dumplings and deliciousness, you drink tea and eat dumplings and other small stuff

Not just dumplings and such either, they also wheel around their most popular dishes. Squid, chicken, pork and such. I've found the best suit of action is to sit as close to the kitchen door as possible, so you beat everyone to the punch.

Traditionally it's dumplings and other small bites. The addition of actual dishes is a western thing, because restaurants here serve it during major meal times rather than morning and afternoon tea.

All this talk makes me want some f**king dumplings!

Wtf are u on a diet for dragon ?

 Started a 30 day (Well, actually 60 days as it's two back to back programs) program to get in shape. Going to have a personal trained 3 days a week, group session 2 days a week. Need to get in shape before I go overseas, part of the program is eating well and dieting during the time. Regardless, of your weight. It's just about having the right balance in food and having a mix of proteins, fats, carbs etc and avoiding the junk.

Best part, it's costing me nothing for this program, as it's my dads friend and he's helping me out. Only part that is costing me is the food.

Must be a Cantonese thing. Never seen or heard of it in my part of China (or Sichuan or Xinjiang for that matter).

I think I had it a time or two when living in Marrickville though.

You can have some of my leftover dumplings. I'm over them for today.

Got 20 dumplings for less than $3!

Get down south before you leave China Mis. The Cantonese cuisine is f**king awesome. It is one of the main reasons I get withdrawals between trips.
