Poor Steve Mortimer.

He leapt to the defence of the players, club and fans after the salary cap fiasco and told some of his own closest friends and allies that they had to stand down from the board. He was reluctant to walk away from his successful business. It wasnt easy. But he did it for the love of his club. And regardless of whether or not the allegations are entirely proven, this is the way these mongrels have decided to repay him.

I wouldnt donate one raw cent to save the Bulldogs but youve got to admire Mortimer's guts and integrity.

Well done Bulldogs. Any wonder that a family man like Nigel Vagana wanted out of there?

Good post SS. He is a top notch bloke and it must be very difficult to deal with the press in these circumstances. I wouldn't want his job for quids.

I don't wish to make light of the seriousness of the allegations, but it sure is nice to have another club in the media spotlight. It rips your heart out when you hear about your club being continually villified in the media, as we were last year.

Turvey is a champion, no doubts there. The club will get through this, they just have to chop some of the dead wood away. The players involved havn't been named yet have they?

From the Herald

Just minutes before Mr Mortimer spoke at Belmore Oval yesterday, one of the club's players at a training session was heard abusing photographers from the players' tunnel. The player allegedly encouraged his teammates to "pull our dicks out and come all over them".

Another player was seen urinating on the field.

Charming.

That'll do their publicity the world of good!

It show that their brain matter is soooooo very low. So much for their code of conduct which addresses unacceptable behaviour. Steve Mortimer must be on the verge of a break down because of these idiots. I really fell sorry for Steve.

It is incredible that after last years allegations the club went back to coffs and then failed to install some control. [edit]

This is not very good publicity for our game is it?

What a nightmare for the Bulldogs....I for one hate to see any club in jeapordy.

The Bulldogs could face suspension from this years comp if this becomes affirmative.

Clubs have pride and history and tradition its not 'the clubs' fault.

What an absolute f*ck up this is!!!

What I don't understand is why everyone is talking about increasing security around the team, and that will fix the problem.

IF these allegations are proven, what is security going to do? It won't fix the problem. What gives anyone the right to think that such behaviour is acceptable?

missbelinda77 I think you will find the security that everyone is talking about will be in place to avoid players from any club getting them self into these situations. It will be a preventative measure for the future.

The best cure for anything is prevention. Hence, the security.

I dont know about you, but "prevention" for me is respect for women (yes I do have some) and the law.

To admit that they need a chaperone just shows they are absolute animals.

Sad, but true SS. There is a small minority of First graders who waltz about like they own the place. Those are the sort of people the security is for. Not to protect people from them, but to protect them from themselves.

Many a time I've heard a story about a cocky Rooster stutting about like he owns the place.

so can the team really be suspended from the comp if this is true??

apparently so
but that wont happen because the NRL learned from the souths lesson the danger in turning away thousands of fans from the game

I wouldn't go as far as "animals", but I think it does show some of them are a bit on the dumb side and not living in the real world. Not surprising when you think about their lifestyles - good money, a lot of free time and a good dose of public recognition.

Depends who the team is. They got rid of the Bluebags & the Bears without much hassle.

But both of them went totally broke. Canterbury are still going okay financially.
