Chalk up another for District 9. Interesting, great action to finish the movie up.
Seems to be setup nicely for a sequel which should be interesting.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Decent film in HP franchise and really set the scene for the final book.

Cheri. Michelle Pfiefer in excellent role as ageing courtesan in Paris. Period drama about two people perfectly suited to each other and yet who society deems are not suited to each other. A struggle between doing what feels right and what is perceived to be "right" for those living a debauched life in highly moralistic times.

District 9. Enjoyed it. Would it be fair to say the sequel will be called District 10, given as thats the name for the new settlement.

Saw District 9 tonight and loved it. 99.99% convinced there will be a sequal, however fear that some major movie studio will jump aboard, throw $200 million at Peter Jackson and completely destroy everything that the first movie was.

District 9 was a brilliant movie, best I've seen since Dark Knight. Brilliant and original take on an alien movie, I came away thinking it was oh-so close to being a true masterpiece but was just missing a certain something. Don't know what exactly though.

Agreed. In fact, I'm so certain they would destroy any sequel that I'm hoping that they don't make one. I just don't see how they can make a sequel that lives up to the first, even if they go in with the best of intentions and try to make it the right way.

I disagree. I was looking forward to it, after seeing Blomkamp's short on which this is based "Alive in Joburg", and it began well enough. Seemed to decide it wanted to be an action movie and lost the plot a little for me. Decent ending though and it's not hard to see a sequel in the wings (please, do not let someone like Michael Bay anywhere near it....).

I agree in part - the start was pretty good.

I hated the ending, personally.

And it did degenerate into an action film - a generic action film.

Disappointing overall imo.
