Just read the plot summary, sounded very tame compared to what goes on in Human Centipede. I could be missing something having not seen it though.

As f**ked up as The Human Centipede films are I think they're kind of necessary these days. In my life time I've grown conditioned to violence and it's everywhere I look and as I get older I very rarely get disturbed and shocked. There might occasionally be a scene in a movie that shocks me but that's it.

I was bored in I Spit On Your Grave which was supposed to be this really messed up film, it wasn't. I'm a Takashi Miike fan so I've seen some strange and f**ked up things in movies but The Human Centipede was on a whole new level and reminded me that I'm still human and I can be shocked which I have never really felt while watching a film or TV show before. It's a necessary evil in a way. Younger people than me will probably go conditioned to that type of stuff the way I was conditioned to violence as a youth though.

I wasnt scared, movies don't scare me. But as far as all the other 'scary' movies out there go, this one is up there.

Haha, sorry but I had to laugh about this comment.

Like you had to quickly defend your manhood that someone thought you were scared from a movie. Even if you got scared, doesn't make you any less of a man..now quick go shave that back!!

After watching the odd Al Qaeda beheading video and just about anything that was on the old Ogrish.com (which became LiveLeak and totally pro-American military after Ogrish used to show Juba's videos) I find it next to impossible to be moved in any way by violence in movies.

Well I will admit that I turned the volume down on a number of occasions when I thought something was gonna happen. It was one of those kinds of movies where something jumps out at a gazillion decibels. It tests the startle reflex for sure

I thought paranormal activities and conjuring were the scariest films I've seen (cliché of watching alone, late at night in the dark didn't help). No other horrors have really scared me though

I watched "savages" last night.

Great movie.

Also Mud the other night. Another cracker, really enjoyed both

Exactly.

I've had a lot of people tell me to watch "Gravity", but only if it's in a 3D theatre. Seems to me it's a movie that's great to look at but that's where it ends - and that's a shame.
The only real shame here is that you've totally written off a movie you haven't even seen based on people recommending to see it in 3D.

I wonder how many of those people who told you to see it in 3D have seen both presentations and found the 2D version unwatchable. I'd bet precisely zero of them.

So...you're saying this is basically Avatar set in space, instead of on a planet?

Hmm.

Cannot quite understand the plaudits this film is receiving if the story is so dull tbh. Pretty effects don't make a movie.
Maybe it would be a bit easier to understand if you actually watched the film. The comparisons to Avatar are ridiculous.

To describe the story in this film as "dull" is way off the mark. They spend a few minutes introducing the two main characters and then it's a series of calamities right up until the end.
