The only real shame here is that you've totally written off a movie you haven't even seen based on people recommending to see it in 3D.

I wonder how many of those people who told you to see it in 3D have seen both presentations and found the 2D version unwatchable. I'd bet precisely zero of them.

Neither you here not anyone I've spoken to about this film had been able to give me a good reason to watch it aside from telling me to watch it in 3D.

Maybe it would be a bit easier to understand if you actually watched the film. The comparisons to Avatar are ridiculous.

To describe the story in this film as "dull" is way off the mark. They spend a few minutes introducing the two main characters and then it's a series of calamities right up until the end.

Really? "Avatar" copped the same plaudits as this film is receiving, and was heavily encouraged to be viewed in 3D (as is this film).

Every person I've spoken to has said it's a great film, but you can only enjoy it in 3D. Obviously if it has a lot of scope, then viewing it in 3D will help reach that ambition.

But if the greatest reason to watch the film is because it's a spectacular 3D experience (which every review, both in text and in person), then you'll forgive me for not being overly excited to see this movie.

It is an edge of your seat suspense movie about surviving in the most unthinkable circumstance.
The characters aren't supposed to be fleshed out because you are supposed to imagine yourself in their situation and try to imagine how you would react.
It is very light on story and character. It is a very simple movie, but done on a grand scale.

The preview alone made me feel anxious - the last bit it shows where the astronaut is reaching, grasping, knowing that if they miss then they will float off into oblivion.

This movie works in 2D. It is better in 3D. That's why people are telling you to see it that way. The special effects are absolutely sublime. The pacing is perfect. The acting is fine. It's just a very good movie.

I hope I gave you enough of a reason.

Watched Gravity last night and loved it.

The movie to me was about the rebirthing of her, after dealing with the loss of her child.

I hated Now You See Me.

Crappy CGI tricks, an insipid plot that makes no sense and characters that are so unlikable you want them all to fail.
Should have been fun considering the great premise and cast.

Olympus Has Fallen.

May have beaten the body count from the charge at the Nek in Gallipoli. Couldn't see the White House lawn for all the corpses.

That's a much better summation of why I should watch the film.

Anyone gonna check out Ender's Game?

I really enjoyed the book as a teenager, so I am interested to see what they were able to come up with for the movie.

Saw Thor The Dark World tonight. Loved it. Heaps of laughs. Epic action. Menacing villain. Cameos. Good mid and end of credit scenes. Thor and Loki had great banter.

After all the good reviews about gravity on here I took the mrs to go see it in 3D.

We flinched a couple of times when the debris would come flying towards your head.

It is a well done movie when you consider there was only 3 actors and a voice the whole time.

I think it portrayed the reality of space really well, e.g no noise and no friction, perpetual motion etc..

I found myself frustrated for the actors when they were just struggling to grab onto things.

All I could do in the movie was imagine myself in that situation and how f**king scary it would be.

To me, this helps explain why it would be a good flick to see in 3D. Seems from what has been said that it is a film that is enhanced by, rather than only good in, 3D.

Incidentally - would the movie still be good in 3D? Being short-sighted, the 3D glasses give me headaches, but I think I want to see this movie now lol.

Watched Rush and thought it was pretty good.

Watched Now You See Me and thought it was good as far as having a unique storyline goes.

Thor : The dark world.
Really liked this one. Much more action/adventurey than the 1st Thor. One of the action scenes felt very Star Warsey to me. Lots of laughs too.
