Is man of steel good?

I my opinion it is a good film. I was sceptical about it only because it includes the origin story, but considering how the plot unfolds it becomes central to the oncfrontation between Superman and General Zod. As long as you don't expect a remake of the Christoper Reeve Superman films you should enjoy it. Hell the final fight goes for like 20 minutes.

Pretty much this.

I've heard some people complain that Gyllenhal's attempt to flesh out the character was distracting but personally, I found it added intrigue to a role that was designed to be very one dimensional.

It's probably the best film I've seen all year but it's preaching to the choir somewhat as I'd eat these TV1 esque thrillers up everyday. It does go a little long at about 2 hours and 30 minutes and certain seems fall victim to the Hollywood cliches that defy reality, but for what it is, it's still good fun.

Check it out if you're a fan of movies like Zodiac or Se7en.

Definitely.

I thought there was a bit of depth to him that they left unexplored ie. his tattoos, hair, blinking, eating alone at thanks giving, free masons pinky ring etc. He definitely wasn't the usual clean cut cop they chuck into these sort of movies. I liked how they showed that he's obviously a bit different but didn't feel the need to explain why.

One of the best movies that's come out this year I thought.

It's 50% good and 50% Michael Bay-esque explosion porn for no real reason.

Yeah, Man of Steel is entertaining. But if you're a Superman loyalist, you won't be satisfied.

And don't expect a film the quality of The Dark Knight. That movie was on another level.

Just re-watched Babel.

Love the intertwining stories, they really capture you. Especially the way some of the scenes with the deaf girl were constructed.

Did you poke your eyeballs out after watching it? I almost did, it was that bad. It tried to completely re-write the first movie and was a bad movie to boot. No wonder the concepts it tried to bring in were ignore when they did Highlander 3.
A mate and I were going to watch the original Highlander 2 and then the most recent directors cut (2004 Special Edition) which completely removes all of the bullshit about them being aliens from another planet, as well as changing a few other things.

It was pretty bad. Not the worst film I've seen, and I have to admit that the over the top explosion during the first quickening was actually pretty impressive, and it did have a real Blade Runner feel to it, but there were bits that were just excruciating and some truly awful acting.

We only got about 20 minutes into the directors cut before we'd had enough.

Gravity. Didn't care for the characters, so wouldn't have mind seeing they drift off for good within the first 30 minutes. 6/10

For a better space movie watch Europa Report.

The Worlds End.
Very funny. Still think Shaun of the Dead is the best if the "unofficial cornetto and blood trilogy" but I like this one better than Hot Fuzz.
