If any team is like the Packers, it is the mighty Newcastle Knights.

Proudly community owned, small town with a record of success against the odds and pride in our region, and the most passionate supporters in the league.

We are also look to be on the up again, building around a future star (Rogers / Mullen) to come out of a rebuilding period after losing our long-term superstar (Favre / Johns).

I agree with this, even though I don't support the Packers or the Knights.

Regional NSW... then the CENTRAL COAST BEARS would be your best bet. Like the WA Reds they are not in the NRL at the moment but will be in 2013. Hopefully ;-). They are a new entity with a rich heritage and history as the previously incarnated North Sydney Bears. Formed in 1908, premiers twice (albeit 80 years ago) and a proud following from fans. In 2013 we will provide a great opportunity for the Central Coast locals to have their own team to barrack and re-uniting and re-connecting with the old North Sydney supporters.

With memberships starting at just $20, they are a crucial element in building for our success. The mighty CC. BEARS a team for the coast, for the people.

Support the Cowboys. They play with such passion, and never switch off when the job is only halfway done. If we get out to a 20-6 or an 18-0 lead, you know we'll never give it up.

Of course it has to be the most famous team in the comp, the mighty South Sydney Rabbitohs.

St George / Illawarra Dragons - More TV games than any other club and the most exciting team to watch in the competition. :) Usually make the finals series.

Winston. The choice is clear.

The mighty Parramatta Eels. Why? Our country was born there - first farm, first factory, first government house, first railway station, first 24hr Maccas.

There are benefits, too. Chicks go crazy over someone in blue and gold. Just as it has been clinically tested that following Brisbane reduces your IQ, following Parra increases penis length. Also, if you need an insurance job on your car, being a Parra supporter will get it trashed whenever they play Canterbury (the Al-Quaida club). Being a Parra fan means you have teeth (unlise Souths or Penrith), a job (unlike Newcastle or Wests), a clean criminal record (unlike Canterbury), wealth (unlike Cronulla), friends (unlike Canberra), brains (unlike the 3 QLD clubs), testoterone (unlike Manly), integrity (unlike Melbourne), a lack of sexual attraction to farm animals (unlike the Warriors), other fans to chat to (unlike the Roosters), and colour footage of your last premiership win (unlike the Dragons), then this is the team for you:

Manly Sea Eagles

Only team to have won a Premiership in each of the last four decades:
Seventies: 1972,1973,1976,1978
Eighties: 1987
Nineties: 1996
Noughties: 2008

Have NEVER won the Wooden Spoon (ie come last) in their 64 years.

Other reasons to support the Parramatta Eels:

* You will be supporting a team with a unique and historical name.
Parramatta is an Aboriginal word meaning "place where the Eels lie down, named after the Eels found in Parramatta river. Therefore, not only does the name have a distinctly Australian flavour, you wll not find another team in world sport with the moniker Eels!

* everywhere you go in the world it won't take you too long to find a Parra fan - we are always about and always proud. I have been to Europe, Asia and Africa and always manage to bump into or spot an Eels fan! The Eels family is widespread and welcoming!

* we support the junior development of the game and more Parramatta juniors are playing professionally than from any other club

* we haven't won the premiership for a long time so you won't just be supporting them because they are winners!

* we have the best and most unique celebration in sporting history - when we first won the Premiership we burnt our own stadium down in what can only be termed as "friendly rioting"!

* despite not having won for a long time, we are always there or thereabouts and always give our fans some thrills every year. We will win it soon enough!

Why not throw us all a dummy and support NZ Warriors? I know you haven't mentioned it, however if you travel internationally you may end up in New Zealand one day and you will always have a chance of seeing your team in both countries.

Warriors or NQ Cowboys. Being American, chances are you will visit Cairns and the reef at some point, so support the local North Queensland team!

No-one here can tell you what team to support mate.
It's up to you to decide; if you can, watch Rugby League and see which team appeals to you.

Of course, if you listen to the media only, the Eels and the Storm will be your 2 favourite team
Pick who you like; unlike many people who are 'born' into supporting, you have the choice to choose who you want to support.
