When did you know that your team would win the big one?

The other game I remember thinking Wests were on something special in 2005 was the win against the Raiders. They played awful for most of the first half, then gritted out a most unlikely win. This was the sort of game they would normally lose (and continue to normally lose), but that team had somehow forgotten how to lose.

When SBW finally got in the game and SKD scored to put us in front in 2013.

When MJ scored the miracle try it was all but confirmed.

When we put 40 points on Manly in the first week of the finals, we looked a team that finally 'clicked' and I knew we'd win the comp.

When we were 12-0 down in the first 10 minutes against the Roosters, I knew we'd choked again and were no chance.

When we put 32 straight points on the Roosters to make our first GF in decades, and saw the Bulldogs win through, I knew we'd be too good for them and finally would win #21.

When Sam Burgess broke his cheekbone in the first tackle of the GF, I knew we'd be in for a tough night.

When it was 6-6 early in the second half, I knew we'd choke.

When Reynolds converted the Auva'a try to put us up by 14, I finally celebrated.

2010

Realising that not a side throughout the semis had put a point on us in the 2nd 1/2. Then when we managed to pip the Tiges it gave me confidence. Then when Flo went over in the 2nd 1/2 of the GF I knew we were home. One of the better defensive efforts in semi finals>GF.

This is going to sound ridiculous but it's true. In 1991, I knew we had it won when MG was sent yo the bin. I said to my mate who I was watching the game with that we would win it. I just felt like it lifted us and got our focus back as we seemed to be wavering at that point.

In 2003, I knew after we beat the Warriors in the prelim final that we would win. I just felt like we had built such momentum that it would take an amazing performance from the roosters to beat us, which in all fairness they nearly managed to do.

Id like to hear the sharks views on this....

When we whipped your blokes in the final round of '99, something like 56-6 - the first half was absolutely faultless. Winning the minor premiership comfortably. I knew we were the best team in the comp.

However, as a Sharks supporter, I knew that counted for SFA.

Then we went on to completely choke in the finals & not even make the GF. Knocked out by the Dragons in week 3 after dominating the first half but only leading 8-0. Mundine killed us in the 2nd half - wish it could've been anyone else.

Thanks to Ainscough in the GF, some pain was eased.

When I heard Paul Simpkins named referee of the 2006 GF. Am I right Pops?

Seriously though, Rd 23 against the Storm that year was the turning point. Even though they lost 12-18, the side just looked better and fresher than they had all year and they took Melbourne right to the limit.

The next two consecutive games scoring 30-0 against the Bulldogs and 23-0 against Parra made it clear they were going to go all the way.

2002 - When we belted the Broncos away with 5 rounds left of the comp. Something about the way they played that night sealed it for me. I think the rest of the comp knew it too and we won 9 straight from there - all against top 8 teams.

2013 - I kind of 'knew' from around halfway through the season, but when we won that first semi against Manly 4-0 it was sealed. Absolutely epic defensive performance. The belting of Souffs the week before with 4-5 top liners missing didn't hurt either.

Apparently the North Sydney Bears fans knew they had the 1922 title in the bag when they thumped University and Glebe back to back in rounds 13 and 14....

I was very confident in the weeks prior to that however, that confidence went out the window at the kick off when James Grahame broke Sam Burgess' jaw.

funny looking jaw..

I'm still in shock that the Tigers didn't knock us off with a heartbreaking try in about the 79th minute of the 2010 prelim...I was convinced they were going to score on that last play after we had defended so well all night (and all season).

I was a lot more nervous about that dangerous Tigers side than any team that had Mythchell at 7. Having said that, we did remarkably well to keep within 2 of the Chooks at the break and I wasn't sure we were safe until Soward kicked that penalty goal. Absolutely magic.

Didn't have that feeling at all through the regular rounds in 2010. The way we bowed out in 2009 haunted me, not to mention every other year we'd let it slip through our fingers. Bought GF tickets just because I thought it'd be a good experience. Even when Gasnier came back, I wasn't confident.

Then we beat Manly 28-0 in the first final and I thought we might have a chance. But then I saw that we were playing Tigpies, and I thought we were done; nothing scared me more than Benji Marshall getting the ball that year! But as soon as Sowie caught that pass - that beautiful, inch-perfect bullet-like pass from Nathan Fien - I knew that was it, and that 2010 was our year. Even when Tigpies made that last run, I knew we'd pull through (Thanks, Beau Ryan!!).

On GF day, I was torn between quiet confidence and counting the minutes until I could be sure we had it in the bag. When we went into half time only down by 2, I knew we had it. When Sowie lined up for a field goal, and you could see Fien ready to dart, I stopped counting the minutes and started celebrating.

...

..f**k it, I'm going to go watch the DVD!

Surely you must have known it was your day when Gasnier was called in.
