When did you become a parra supporter?

I am a migrant, started supporting parra since 2001.
I came here in 2000 took me a year to understand the game. :D

But since then my mood depends on parrra's performance.

i can never remember for sure, but i saw brett kenny's last game at home. that was my first year when i was like 4 or 5, and i haven't missed a home game since then (except for when i was away).
in 1999 i met Nikki and all them, and began to travel to away games with my sister and them, and have barely missed an away game since then....
its 10-12 years of solid eels watching by now surely, when did Bert finish :?:

i remember when we really, really sucked in the 90's i used to threaten them "if youse don't start winning, im gonna be a broncos fan..!" and my dad would yell back "No you bloody Won't!"

Late 50s, when I was a kid and went to school near Cumberland Oval.

And goPArra, there are some things about the game we still don't understand either.

Saw my first game in 1981, sitting on the 'concourse' area of Cumberland Oval. We played against Norths and bloody lost after leading with 10 mins to go. Can't actually remember when I started following them but would have been a few years before that.

Somewhere between 1990-1992

Only a little fella back then bout 4 or 5 and followed Parra cuz my dad did, growing up as an eels supporter in the early 90's in qld when the broncos dominated was hell, but i lived through it with many great memories, the ANZ Opening gate crashing tops the list!

Probably '89 for me. That was the year I took any sort of real interest in the game, it was also the year I went to my first game. Brisbane beat the Eels 16-8 that day
Before that I only followed league a little bit and always hoped Parra would win if I saw them on TV. Don't know if I even saw the '86 GF :(

1976. Twas a big Artie Beetson fan in '75 (he WAS 1975). Parra had the herioc finas run, and the district gained great pride in that. So much so that Mum suggested that I support the locals. So I did.

Early '76 she took me and a mate to Cumberland v St George. I was 12. Mum had no interest in footy, so she sat and knitted while 20 000 others craned for a view of that wonderful old ground. Parra won. Then they beat Manly in my next outing, which made it oh so sweet. I became a regular. Ray Higgs and Shovells Olling were my heroes (geez we could use them today). When Artie joined a few years later, I was in 7th heaven.

Only '76 eh Misty?....well you can hardly try that one on me anymore - you've only got 1yr support up on me.

I'm a 1977 boy myself - when my parents (and us kids obviously) moved back to Sydney from Melbourne.

Parra were my first team - and will be my last. :D

Watching the '86 Grand Final my father sat me down and said "no more supporting whoever leads the comp...pick one team and stick with them..."

So Parra has been my team of choice for almost 18 years, and my hairline has gone thinner and greyer ever since  #-o

In 2000.

Born here in 85, my dad got many promotions [ first up, when I was 4, we moved to Holland for 1 year and a bit; then to Chile for nearly 4 years; then to Finland for 1.5 years; then to Spain for nearly 4 years; and in 2000 we finally returned to Sydney] which saw us move overseas.

Whilst overseas, my dad used to explain how he used to watch his hero 'Mr. Perpetual Motion' Ray Price play for the Eels even when badly injured. That inspired me.

When we got back, I found out my entire family bar one uncle goes for Parra. At this time, the game was somewhat unfamiliar to me still, but I said, "What the hell? My family likes them, I like them."

Since then, I ADORE the Eels and have a passion for League.

And I ENVY all the people who lived though the 80's - I nearly experienced that joy in 2001 [how great was the atmosphere? The streets covered in Blue and Gold; everyone proud to be an Eel fan], but it wasn't to be.
