Although i am loving the hate directed towards Souths at the moment, must be jealous of the crowds/media exposure we have gotten after just 1 successful year.

If it was for football and on field activity that'd be ok... it's been because of a Kiwi actor, a trust find baby and a couple of thugs in Fa'alogo & Jaimyn Lowe. The ABC is running a tv series about Crowe... without him there is no media interest. And the bulk of it stems from SOuths bagging other clubs in the press. There will be an adjustment.

I don't mind south side story,I just think the focus should be more on the team instead of Crowe and Holmes a Court.

Penrith came last in 2001. Good to see normal service has resumed.

Penrith's average crowd was?

Didn't take long for you to bite did it?

Even if Souths did crap this year some other team would have taken their place and delivered similar crowds. The game is expanding, not because of South Sydney's revival, sure it adds a few numbers here and there but to take credit for the great season really shows you they are the arrogant club of the league.

And nowhere in the article does it state that Souths are responsible for it either.
A Souths fan thinking 7th is 'going strong' and then posting an article that really has nothing to do with them to back it up.
it doesnt have too. souths have dramatically improved and so have crowds etc across the board...

its a corralation you cant disprove.

Souths should be relocated to the central coast in a merger with norths with the team called - Norths Central Coast Rabbitohs.

The NRL won the right through their appeal to include or exclude who they want and this should now be inforced as far as souths are concerned.

Souths have no ground and no club and bandwagon "fans" who will be vanish less than halfway through next season with souths heading for the wooden spoon in 2008.

time to make the decisions gallop or giddy up gallop and go - nick politis should be in charge of the NRL as he would make the right decisions for the game.
whatever

The Souths crowds have been disappointing in the back half of the season, perhaps if they were back near their own base they would have been better but given the number of free tickets handed out they were poor except the last game which makes me ask where you been all year.
the true supporters have been around and now the fly by nighter come in.

It's called publicity.... Australia is a celeb loving society for some reason, and we're just taking advantage of that and i don't see any problem whatsoever.

The club from top to bottom should be attractive to the fans, not just the 17 that run out onto the field each week.

The crowds have increased through time before with Souths either out of the comp or rooted to the bottom of the table. Plus with an extra team this year, it would have been a disaster if crowds didn't increase.
There maybe a slight corralation, but if we looked hard enough there would be plenty of other corralations.

im sure there are lots of random correlations, whether there representative is another matter.

im not saying when souths are going good so is league, i just put the challange out there to all the keyboard heros to come up with some contradictory stats instead of stupid jibes...

To contradict what? I can't see any stats that prove Souths are responsible for the increase in numbers around the whole of the game.
The original post was a stupid jibe, it would take a keyboard hero to contradict that.;-)

Crowds haven't improved. Take out the Titans and we're below last year. Include the Titans, and we're only 150 or so ahead on averages...I hardly see this as a compelling argument for Souths, even if you're just trashtalking.

The year Manly broke back into the 8 (2005), crowds shot up by nearly 2000 a match, and the last three years, which have seen Manly in the 8 has produced the three best attendance averages ever. Clearly, a strong Manly means a strong Rugby League?

When the NRL had its highest crowd attendances of all time, Souths came 2nd last by a whisker to a team that lost 13 in a row at the start of the season...

When Souths have been coming stone motherless last, we have seen dynasties of the Brisbane Broncos and one of the best teams of all time in the 94 Raiders.

When Souths have been coming stone motherless last, we saw the NRL strong enough to get through one of the worst periods of the game in Super League, and still get through it without them.

When Souths were completely out of the competition, we saw one of most dominant teams of all time (parramatta 2001) get toppled by the underdog newcastle knights in a brilliant GF (for everyone but eels fans).

Seems the game got along just fine without them....

Yet your crowd average declined this year....
