I just started really. Played a night at the Gunyah hotel, came around 52nd out of 73 but just joined the APL through Belmont Sixteen Footers and finished 3rd out of 87.

ive been playing free pub tournaments (mainly npl) for about 18 months, and cash games at home between freinds. only played 1 game in the last couple of months after a few frustrating finishes pissed me off. been resigned lately to playing free sit & gos on facebook (woohoo!), all in the name of trying to beat my fear of rookies and really loose clueless players.

ive just moved down to the gold coast, want to start playing again. want to get a couple of months worth of games back under my belt before maybe trying to chase a little cash.

Does anyone else have trouble with FT? I install it fine but it just doesn't connect, maybe something to do with having wireless, not sure, Stars and others work fine.

Never had a problem but haven't played on there for about a month - have mainly been playing Stars and Pokerroom

I do like FT but I have a problem with their RNG.

On Pokerstars the deck is shuffled at the start of each hand but on FT it is on constant shuffle so the card dealt may not be the same card that would have been dealt 5 seconds earlier.

Still, that shouldn't have a huge impact for anyone playing well I guess.

I actually prefer stars but their astronomer freerolls are way too big and tedious to get through for only a start in another tourney at the end.

FT has PAD and ME freerolls with small fields, and $100 Freerolls with large fields that can keep anyone occupied without having to put their hand in their pocket.

But I feel that stars in more in sync with what really happens at the table than FT.

There is only one place to play online for me, Pokerstars. I have been there for three years now after trialling some of the "other" sites and no one else competes with them IMO, especially when looking at their superior customer service.

For those playing on Absolute, why? How?

After that incident where there was a "super user" who could see all the cards and won a big online MTT - I wouldn't dare risk investing my money there (I say investing as it's relatively easy to make money at the lower stakes from online poker - there are too many donks out there).

It's because I play at the lower stakes that I feel secure at Absolute. What the super user achieved wasn't something any ordinary hacker could do. The guy was basically an ex-employee who discovered an exploit in the software's programming and was able to abuse it at high stakes tourneys/cash games. The possibility that there are other super users out there grinding away at 200NL is just too remote for me to be deterred.

Besides, Pokerstars, FT and Party just don't offer enough tables that allow deep-stacked poker at my level.

The problem was addressed and the glitch in the software fixed, but certainly Absolute have a job ahead of them winning back peoples' trust.

Been playing mostly on Facebook lately, they have good sit n go's and a weekly tournament. On the poker forum there people acually advertise their chips for sale, and other people buy them. I think the going rate is about $250 for a million chips.

Really? That's just stupid!

May as well deposit $250 on Stars and start chipping away, so to speak

I have never thought about playing poker online for cash. How do you make your money? Playing in tournys or playing cash games online?

I must look into this more.
