Where is the centre we are chasing?

I think Denan Kemp from the Broncos would be a great buy if we can get him on good money which is possible considering the problems they're having up in Brissie with the salary cap. He's incredibly fast and he's a decent defender. I've liked what I've seen when he's played. I rate him a lot more highly than Steve Michaels that's for sure.

He is more of a fullback than a centre though, not really the type of player we should be after.

Our best bet would be to develop a good junior like Sau IMO or Richardson

Jennings for mine... Thats about it and maybe Matai, good grunt in him for a centre.

Matai seems to have neck issues, he would demand a bit of money too I think, so id give him a pass for value, wouldnt be worth it.

Kemp is a winger/fullback. I don't think we will get any of the established centres but a low cost centre who has potential is Champion.

If we are looking at the NYC, Rapana from the Titans would be money well spent. He is very tall and has scored 3 x 90 metre tries this year with pure speed.

I think realistically we should be looking at the NYC comp
Yes we should, and Callan Richo, Jared Edwards, Dan Issac and Simon Williams is a decent pool of talent - and Harmony Hunt and Peter Mata'Utia are not bad wildcards from the Ball side.

you forgot Kalifa
did you see him in NYC last week?
He did look very willing and had some quality footwork, and even scored a decent try - but he got monstered in both attack and defence. He is a long way short of NYC size and strength now - but to be fair he could develop very quickly with time in the gym, and all these stories of him breaking SBWs tryscoring records in NZ make you want to see how he develops.

Not that we need it, but the most promising player I have seen in NYC is another back rower.... Zane (insert name as I have no idea).

Zane Tetavano.
I'm an instant fan as of last week.
I rate him as good as Schirnack - who i have been talking up for nearly a year now.

Kalifa looked pretty big to me when I saw him play SG Ball, maybe he looked big in comparison to Ball players

Michael Jennings is off contract in 09.
Setaimata Sa is off contract in 09.
Geoff Daniela is off contract in 09.
Will Chambers is off contract in 09.
Beau Champion is off contract in 09.

Seems we are a year to early for a bulk of them :(

Ben Harris and Ash Graham are off contract this year though.

You have an eye for these things roop, but I never thought an 18 year old would walk into the back row of NYC and play so well. Is that common?

Schirnack is quality. Hope they can kick on to the next level.

The best debut i ever saw in Flegg was when Kade Snowden stepped up for his first game near the end of the season against an unbeaten Bulldogs side who had been using SBW to bash sides all year - and young Kade hunted SBW all over the park and bashed the hell out of him - and we won against million to one odds. (It has to be said the ref was probably sick of seeing SBW bash up kids and was happy to let Kade give it to him).

Having said that, Schirnack stepped up from Ball about the same time last year, but it took him 5 or 6 games to look at home and i thought it was only the last few games of the season that he looked our best. Tetavano was far more impressive so far. George Morseau stepped up with Schirnack last year and didn't really show the same improvement, but he looked good this year before getting injured (i think).
I'd also rate the improvement of Garbutt this year to be as rapid as Tetavano. He hasn't been as dominant for the last few weeks, but that great game he had against the Roosters shows he is on the way up and he could be anything by next season.

Ash Graham or Ben Harris wouldn't be that bad to sign.

They are better than the Mad Dog & Mad Pup combined.

As far as playing games is concerned I agree, although I like what Luke MacDougall can offer if he can stay injury free.

Ash Graham

Makes Luke Walsh look like Trevor Gillmeister in defence. Has some flair in attack but good for a stuff up too.

Mad Dog is going well this year. Only problem, as so often, has been the injuries and he mightn't have a lot of footy left in his career. Actually hope I'm wrong about that. He's still a class above Ash Graham as a footballer.

Haven't seen Little Doogs since his return from injury but obviously that's been his major problem too. Sounds like he isn't going gangbusters in NSW Cup but not doubt down on confidence. On his form a couple of years ago he's better than Graham in attack and a hundred times better in defence.
