Gal was on the Big Sports Breakfast & says he's pretty sure Bird will play 5/8th but not sure where Flanno will play Barba.

1. Holmes
2. Barba
3. Feki
4. Beale
5. Gordon
6. Bird
7. Robson

I'd rather Beale drops out but hey trying to think like a Flanagan

Barba back to 6??

Granted it was a set move so would Barba have scored from the inside ball from Lewis?

Would Barba have put through a perfect grubber for Holmes to score?

Would Barba have backed himself to score or would he pass it so someone else could decide?

Maybe....no......& definitely NO!!
Leave Bird where he is with Barba replacing Arona, who btw looks like he ate Vave.

I'm not sure Barba would've scored Bird's first try.

Bird showed plenty of toe, which we think Barba still has, but I don't think he could have got around RTS so easily on the outside.

He'd have stepped back inside & probably got caught.

Both of Birds tries were because the defence didn't expect he'd be brave enough to take them on, & he caught then napping.

Some reports are he has been dropped to NSW Cup. Strange given i thought i saw Flanno quoted as saying he would be in the 17.

That will do nothing for his confidence.

Best time to pick him is now....in a winning team.

I can't see Flanno picking him in NSW cup though.

I reckon two or three weeks as a five-eighth in NSW Cup to work on his kicking game and running game is something Barba needs. The NRL opposition has been far too strong for him to get a feel for the role both last year (where he was chopped and changed any way) and this year. He needs to tear up some lower quality opposition and get the timing in..

How many times did Bird kick on the weekend? I remember two. Bird to centre with Barba 5/8 next to him, they can swap in attack if they need to. The right side will be stronger for it with no Beale.

i remember two kicks from mid-field and the grubber for the try... all perfectly weighted.

I have no doubt Barba could have kicked to Holmes for that try. Barba has to be there somewhere and he can't play centre.

I don't think we lose too much at all by putting Barba at six and Bird at 3 or 4. Loots or Beale can take a flying leap they both suck.

Haha the first good game he has played for us.

Yes it was his first game at fullback for us.

Go figure.

And for the record Kris Keating is a grand final halfback and Shannon Hegarty is a grand final winger so what's your point?

What's yours?

They were obviously good enough at some point in time to warrant selection.

Not wanting to put too much pressure on Bird too early, maybe this is the best choice.

As confident as Bird is, we should shield him from the limelight.

Couldn't understand why we would stick a young bloke in the press conference.

Hope he plays ok next week as it can turn to shit pretty fast in this comp when the opposition coach singles you out.
