Where was Peachey?

Just go back to 2000 - when ET came back from injury in around Round 18 or something, it sparked a 3 game winning streak - our best in a season which pretty much went WLWLWLWLWLWL. In the second game, Canterbury led us 14-0 before an inspirational try by ET sparked a flow of 26 unanswered points. Then he featured prominently in our 40-10 demolition job of the Merged Scum, overtaking Lamb as 2nd highest tryscorer.

Personal preference. ET was a legend, but IMHO I reckon the Peach is our greatest ever clubman.
Because I never saw all that much of ET, not even at all in the earlier parts of his career at Sharks. I've seen the Peach at the Sharks for a long time, its just a matter of personal preference of myself.

Trust us that have seen what ET brought to this club....NO ONE will ever be a greater club man...18 seasons of pure class...and loyalty and an all round stand out person...........there simply never will be anyone better for the sharks.....

I am a huge Peachey fan and see many of ET's qualities in him....but he isn't even close Im afraid to ET

18 seasosn!!!!! think about that..all in first grade.....unbelievable.....

and he could have gone to any other club at a number of times...but he didn't!!

read what he says about never winning a premiership....he can live with that because it meant more for him to have played for the sharks than anything else.....he is a legend!!!!!

Meh I guess. I mean, I only watched league passionatly from like 96 onwards, so never payed that much attention to ET. Big Mal was always my favourite in the early 90s. No doubt about it though, ET has probably been the best ambassador to the game. Alot of good press from him.

only did he play here for 18 year - he's the only player ever to have played 300+ games for a single club

Yep
I note today that Ricky Stuart is going on about Fittler being the only player to play 100 games with one club and 200 games with another. Big f**kin' deal. Doesnt compare to 300 games with one club.

Salmon, I am sorry mate but you are failing to look at the big picture mate. It doesn't matter whether or not YOU saw ET or not, he is our greatest clubman. There is no disputing it. To do so is ridiculous, no one else comes close.

Well Steve Rogers comes close.
So would Gav Miller.
Dane Sorenson too.

17 years is something that Soro & Gav could never have achieved in their day & the positions they played. But if they could have, they would have.
& Sludge was the best centre in the game that the then Sharks would not pay for & Mortimer finished his career.

Like I said, no one comes close. They might have had the same passion for the Sharks as ET but they certainly weren't sa loyal and none of them come close to playing for 17 years in Sharks colours. Should have, could have, would have means nothing to me.

I'm a big fan of ET but he was a protected species for about 10 years when he used to have "stare offs" with the Pearl.
17 years means nothing if never get tackled.
& to say that someone like sludge is nowhere near the "clubman" Et Was when he has over 32 years involvement with the club is ludicrous.

the point is obviously playing center is less demanding on the body than playing in the forwards

it is not comparing apples with apples

The clincher for me is the fact that, unlike Rogers, Sorensen, Miller and others, he was a one club man. I have no doubts that the others are completely devoted to the club... but ET stuck with us for his whole career.

& ET got the monetary rewards for it. He might have got slightly more at Manly, but he has always been on a good deal at the Sharks & at one stage was one of the highest paid in the game. Sparkles got the punt because the club could not keep both.
That same genorosity was not forthcoming for Sludge & he was forced out.
Dane sorenson got paid a pittance & played in the front row, for what, 10 years?
17 years is impressive.
But so ar hit ups, tackles, stitches & time with the club after retiring.

bugden reefy

yep bugden ended sludge's comeback for us...it was mortimer that ended one of our most promising halfbacks in Wakefield.

I believe the arguments for Miller, and sludge are very valid and the fact that Miller was a forward who played the way he did would make it very difficult for him to see out 18 seasosn of NRL....but I do believe he continued to play in the bush for a while after...

But as has been said, bpth of them chose to leave the club over moeny issues..and rightly so I elieve but that still could have been a choice ET could have made and didn't...

Don't doubt any of that reefy. But if you have to rank them, ET simply makes the top of my list because he was a Shark and a Shark only.
