Which players to bid farewell to?

North of 200k... so around about average wage, or even below it (allegedly, according to you anyway... and for some reason I'm just running with it). That's good money for you or I, he's hardly breaking the bank, though. It's hardly a squad-ruining contract.

Even in your "grass is always a darker shade of shit" worldview, it's hardly near the top of our worries. Keeping Clydsdale there until Levi comes along just makes sense at this stage. Randall is poo, but would be on even less money. As far as contribution to the team/contract price ratio goes - Clydsdale is nowhere near in the same problem category as others.

Proves my point.
Name me another club where 3 wingers are each paid more than their starting hooker?
I would get rid of both Clydsdale and Randell unless they are willing to play NSW Cup for rest of their careers.
I would also get rid of Smith, Fa`alogo, Houston, Roberts.
If there still not enough money to sign a quality hooker, I would offload one of Sione/Uate/McManus.
Take your pick.
I would turn Feeney into the backup utility.

1. Gagai/Mamo
6. Mullen
7. Hodkinson
9. Ballin

14. Levi

18. Feeney

Fill the rest of the top 25 from there...

Not hard. You tell the players you want to get rid of they are not in the club's future plans. They can play out the rest of their contract in NSW Cup if they want..
Most would go find another club. Sure the club might need to pay a little compensation but it sure beats them seeing out their contracts.
You only need to see how Bennett did things with Barba and Hoffman at the start of this season.

There's a massive difference there.. The Knights already have most of these blokes on way more money than they deserve as it is. A lot of them also don't seem to have a great deal of ambition and they'd be happy to be able to stay in the area with their families collecting their inflated contracts from NSW Cup. Just look at Roberts. He's been told he's not in the future plans but he's been talking about potentially wanting to stay here anyway. Of course he does. He still picks up his 400k next year and doesn't have to move at the moment.

This club will forever use the excuse of third parties as the reason behind their contractual ineptitude. More to the point they are going to have fun moving players that other clubs do not want.

I say there would have been a bit of third party money going on when some of the blokes we're trying to offload signed their current contracts. I mean Bennett is notorious for being involved in how much his players are to be paid and help from TP money is the only way I could see him agreeing to give Aku 500k and Roberts 400k for starters.

I'm glad your not in charge. You'd send the club broke!

I'm in agreance with 1qaz here.

Roberts is welcome to stay in NSW Cup and earn his big paycheck. However, when his next contract comes up he'll find that not many clubs will be offering to pay even a quarter of his current value for a reserve grader. Or he could do the sensible thing and move on, still get paid the exact same money, and then not completely stuff up the remaining 7-8 of his career because he'll still be playing first grade somewhere and maintaining that high level of fitness, training, professionalism etc that clubs will actually value.

The Clydsdale/Randell contracts are the least of our concerns, would cost us more to replace them. Im not the biggest Clydsdale fan but i think he can atleast be a solid back up dummy half, next comtract though if hes after an upgrade, I'd happily show him the door. The contracts we really need to move are Aku and Tyrone, that's a $1 million black hole right there.

if we offloaded Aku and Tyrone along with Smith you are looking at a big amount of money to chase players for 2017 onwards. Next season we just have to hope the new coach can somehow get them defending as a unit again.

In fairness Fa'alogo has only really been shit this year. I think he went alright in previous seasons. Time to go now though.

I wouldn't be surprised if McManus retires sooner rather than later. All these concussion issues can't be good for his health long term.

Cuthbo carving it up in ESL this morning. He has twice the number of offloads as the next bloke in the season stats. He is playing lock. Just hurts watching it.

So we keep a winger on 500K and a half on 400K taht you wouldn't feed but couldn't keep about the only bloke capable of giving us second phase play?
