Which position would he play in the NFL?

I reckon Hayne would be an awesome running back - a dual threat, he could catch or run the ball. He's big, strong, fast...

Yeah and guys like T-Rex and Idris could be Tight Ends. Idris has the size to be a LB too.
A few linebackers
Sam Thaiday
Ashton Sims
Jarrod Warea-Hargreaves
Frank Paul Nuusala

Too bad he doesn't really have the speed or the reflexes re Idris.

I think Taniela Tuaki would have made a fantastic FB.
Billy Slater wouldn't do anything in the NFL, he doesn't have the gait to sneak through holes.
Matty Bowen or Benji Marshall look like TBs with how they position themselves against defense.

Hindy = outside linebacker

Hayne = WR or TE

Slater = Slot reciever

Disagree mostly on these.

Hindy would make a better 3-4 inside LB. I don't think he has the speed and explosiveness required of a OLB, but he has the work ethic and tenacity of a run-stuffing Penn State type ILB.

Hayne - Running back, the dancing type. Think maybe a Gale Sayers type.

Fui - Between the tackles running back, think Ron Dayne.

Slater - Kick return specialist.

I think Sam Tagataese would be a killer LB. He's a rib breaker. I also found a few LB's who are 5'11-6'2. A lot of our guys are around that size.

If Slater started playing gridiron when he was young, I have no doubt he would be a really good slot receiver. Look at Wes Welker, Slater would definitely be a better athlete than him IMO.

Yeah as a slot receiver possibly, never a running back.
The thing is he's very loud when he's attacking, you can see him from a mile away because his legs go lateral (although they've improved).
There are a few players that play similar to backs in the NRL that look for holes to sneak through and outstep instead of outmuscle their opponent.

I'd say Cooper is more suited to safety.
Soward might have trouble getting a kick away if keeps his little dance lol.

I think someone like Sutton or Mateo could throw a ball. Campese, maybe.
Dave Taylor could play FB or TE.

I'm only taking a guess here, but Jon Vilma and Matt Cooper look very similar size wise. That and at this stage of his career I think Coops would struggle in coverage.

Wouldn't you just love to see Soward keep his little march while storming in to kick one? :D

Hayne - punter

Some of the better kickers in league and rugby could make it as punt specialists. Easier job with better pay than they are doing now.

Hard to assess some positions such as QB as the skillset is obviously not displayed in league. Here's a few of the positions covered -

ATTACK

RB - Akuila Uate and Michael Jennings working as tandem RB's would be lethal. Both have speed and footwork. Akuila could use brute strength also.

FB - Ideal position for Fui Fui Moi Moi. Will turn those 4th and 1's into new downs consistently. Vatuvei would also work.

TE - Jarryd Hayne. Great hands and great power. Can run and hit. Potentially a spot for Inglis also.

WR - Yow Yeh. Inglis. Duffie. Tuqiri. Nightingale to play the slot receiver ala Wes Welker.

KR - Nathan Gardner would be devastating returning kicks. Devon Hester like. Ben Barba could be another option.

P - Soward strikes the ball better than any player in the game.

K - Thurston is our best kicker but he's curling style won't work here. Have to be Michael Gordon.

DEFENCE

LB - Sonny Bill Williams, Matt Cooper, Tariq Sims would be a dynamic group of LB's. Speed, power and technique. Others that could also play it Tahu, Proctor and Watmough.

CB - Great spot for the Morris boys. Hands can let them down at times but speed wise they are right up there and would be great spoilers.

S - For the safeties, guys like Dugan and Hopoate are perfect.

Lockyer would have made a killer DB. Hayne as well, but you'd have to have him as WR.

Dave Taylor and Tariq Sims for DE, though Sims would be skillful enough for TE. Taylor would as well, but coaches would take one look and say "defence".

Luke O'Donnell as OLB

Heighington at FB

Agree that Dugan would go well at SS. Need a bit more height for FS. Maybe stick Matt Cooper there instead of LB.

Who would go QB? My vote goes to Ennis cause he's already got the forward pass down pat.

I would go with
De - Warea-Hargreaves, Burgess
Olb - Tagataese, Tahu
Mlb - Sims
Ss - Matai
Fs - Dugan
Cb - Stewart, Slater

That'd be my picks.
