This may have been done before, but I am curious to know.

If you can give it to me in a 1 - 2 - 3 that would be great.

For me it would be.

1. Broncos
2. Eels
3. St. George Illawarra

And what are you basing that on?

These threads are crap! No one knows which Sydney team has the most supporters! What do you judge it on? Home crowd averages over the last 10 years? If so, Bulldogs & Tiger's by a mile! Away crowds? If you do St George & Bulldogs by a Mile? Bandwagon? If you do Eels by a mile. TV Audience? Ask Channel 9 & Foxsports.

We achieved our highest average amount of attendees despite achieving our worse result...

Broncos and Dragons for mine.

Parramatta are up there too if they get their bandwagon going.

You can't just base it around the amount of people that turn up on game day. When Brisbane play the Dragons or Parra in Brisbane there normaly is a 50/50 split, same for the Titans when they play those 2 teams. There are plenty of fans that don't live in Sydney that follow Sydney teams.
Also look at how many supporters the interstate teams get in Sydney, Sweet "FA".

I thought 50uffs had the most supporters. I'm sure it even says it on the 50uffs website.

No doubt that the Dragons do well in Brisbane (no where near 50/50 though), but Parra?
Eels tend to draw pretty poorly in Brisbane. The 38k they got this year was the highest ever and had little to do with the amount of Eels fans.

Actually there is some research on this and Broncos are definitely the most supported of NRL teams. Melbourne comes next but being a one team town that's expected. Of the Sydney teams it's then Eels, Dragons and Tigers in no certain order depending on the level of 'bandwagon support'. For Instance in 2001 20.5% of people identified themselves as Parra supporters while 10.3% said they followed the Tigers. By Dec 05 they were near equal on 15.0% and 14.9% respectively. The Dragons have hovered around the 15.5-16.0% level and the bulldogs have gravitated around the 12.5-14.0% level. Every other Sydney team is usually at 10.0% or below.

And unlike ouwet who loves talking out of his arse I have some facts to back this up:

Why are we going through this again? It isn't accurate. Everyone knows it's Brisbane, but then again look at the number of teams-population ratio and that pretty much takes Brisbane out of it.

Bandwagon supporters it'd be a tie between Dragons and Roosters at the moment.
Never in my life have I seen so many shiny Dragons and Rooster stickers on cars LOL

I've seen those numbers before and while I accept them, I don't think they're an entirely accurate reflection of the supporter bases that do show up for games or watch on television on a regular basis - a fair portion are bandwagon or loose affiliation, otherwise you'd already be seeing 20,000+ crowds at Storm home matches (which will happen in the not too distant future though). Same for the fact that Bulldogs out-average the Dragons and Eels as well.

I already made a post about this previously breaking the teams into 4 tiers:

You notice it does have some close parallels to the Roy Morgan poll but I'm more focused on the actualisation of the fringe support into firm support.

Dragons and Tigers are more than capable of selling out ANZ this Saturday. If they don't even come close, then its a blackmark on their supporter bases.

Storm had 4 Home games this season with crowds over 20k.

It would most likely be;

1. Broncos
2. Bulldogs
3. Eels

Broncos are far and away the team with the biggest fanbase, Bulldogs and Eels are massive as well. Then again, there are a lot of statistics to base it on...i.e. Broncos and Eels are first and second (respectively) most watched teams on T.V, but the Eels average home crowd is far lower compared to the Bulldogs.
Tigers, Dragons and Souths are pretty big too as far as I know.
