It's simple. Charnze or Roger to play fullback?

I can see some people has changed their minds since the beginning of the year. I am one of them.

Roger gets his No.1 jersey back that he won his Dally M in back in 2018.

Threw in Tuaupiki as a wild card (Too good not to be in our team)

I changed my mind to Roger from Round 3 vs Canberra in Christchurch.

Where will CNK go? I think he'd be better in the centres or a running half like we tried earlier in the year due to injuries.

*It's Roger now as we fell short with the current set-up. I don't say this lightly as Charnze is great at the back with his organisation. He's really vocal and his teammates listen.*

*Edit: TT is my man at the back now. Check the later posts.

He'll still be in the team. He's only about 29, isn't he? Centre is where as we want some zippy halves and wings.

WW, you can probably get rid of the Ford avatar now, we all got the joke (you had a poke at Meth!) but Meth is the original Ford guy. I can't handle two Fords and the Warriors often can't handle just one.

The communications issue RTS has that many and even Webby has mentioned can be improved with more time there. He can copy and paste what CNK provide and add more Roger pros on top.

I will remove the avatar as soon as Meth removes a quote he took out of context. Do you think that's mature of him?

RTS at 1, CNK at centre. They’re both in the team, but Roger is my guy. I can see arguments both ways, beaver provides a decent justification but I’d like to hear something of substance from Webster if he’s sticking with CNK. I’d also like to hear a justification for bringing SJ straight in again…. “Hes our guy “ doesn’t do it for me in either case…

Tuaupiki for me to be a shit stirrer.
He can kick goals, seems to have the wheels and is younger. Seems energetic.
Plenty to work in communication and defense organisation.

But if you must give RTS 6 round to prove himself.

The centres for CNK means someone gets pushed down to cup. Who out of Berry/Leiataua/Pompey/MGT?
It's a hard one to answer when I think about it. It's the same headache for the coach.

01: RTS.
02: DWZ.
03: Leiataua.
04: CNK/MGT/Berry.
05: Tuaupiki/Pasikala/Tu.
06: TMM.
07: Metcalf.

Suddenly, there's a burst of speed with just a few adjustments.

The debate over the fullback position continues among the fans.

CNK has spent two seasons at fullback, maybe RTS deserves a shot in the role for a few games in 2025.

In my opinion, RTS is the one who can lead us to a premiership as a fullback, even if he's lost a step in speed.

Tuaupiki is very reliable at but too far back in the pecking order to see him play at fullback.
He could be converted to a half or utility, or worse go to the Bears.
Too talented to be stuck in NSW cup.

Comparisons between the 2

Speed - Even
Agility - RTS
Ball Playing - CNK
Kick return - RTS
Try Saving Tackles - CNK
Line Communication in Defence - Hard to judge as a fan, but Webster has named RTS being behind in this area
Positioning - CNK
High Ball - CNK has probably looked a bit better
All round X Factor - RTS

What that all shakes out too in regards to the decision, I don’t know, but shit I’m bored and quiet at work and it’s filled in a few mins

I think Webster has a significant headache. And I think it's more surrounding Charnze than it is RTS.

Charnze to centre, that could work (can defend, decent speed, good ball player) but you'd have to give him time, and they haven't sufficiently done that with Roger. CNK has not played a single game of centre in the NRL, that I could find. You have Ali L who needs to play and is a future gun, and Pompey who will likely need to play because otherwise, we have no goalkicker - unless they invest in CHT, and to me that's dangerous as someone who hasn't done that role much.

To me, and I honestly don't know, I think it's RTS over Charnze, just. But then I think there's no spot for Charnze, anywhere. Or if there is, again we go through this development phase like we have with Roger.

Whatever it is, this year has shown us we need to pick 17 guys, especially the first 7 guys, and allow them to build combinations (injuries, touch wood, dependent). I honestly don't know WTF that 7 is, but it needs to be locked in by round 1 and stuck with.

I've said it in other threads but I'll say it again: imo a lot of CNK's value comes from his mammoth work rate. Move him anywhere else and I think a lot of that value will be lost. I kinda feel like it's fullback or nowhere for CNK

No it doesn't as I am assuming RTS would be at centre, so a straight swap... There's no version of reality where I think RTS should be on the wing
True, I wonder if Berry will be Webster's first choice starting centre, like in Round 1 this year? I'd prefer to see Ali in the mix. The only issue with having CNK as a centre is that he's keeping a specialist out of that position. Now I'm in two minds smh.

If RTS switches to Samoa then CNK.

Yes, I'm that petty. ;)

On Berry, I really don't see what others see in him. He seems to be good at chasing kicks and that's about it. I wish he had the physicality and running of his old man. Ali for me.

I just can't go past RTS for FB honestly.
I'd like to see Tuaupiki and Ali both in the backline. Alongisde DWZ, and I guess CNK has to be there as well.

Looks like I'm in agreement with WW here

Regarding goal kicking, can Metcalf kick? If so then I’d have him at 6, TMM 7, CHT at 13/14, and that diminishes a need for the fullback to be a goal kicker. I’d have Metcalf over CHT because of pace, but maybe that leaves us lacking a long kicker.

It looks like Metcalf will be at 7, with TMM and CHT battling it out for the 6 jersey. Webby mentioned that the goal-kicking duties will go to whoever performs best during their reps.

CHT would be good as 14 imo
I see CHT at 13 and Walker at 14 after Harris retires, but I'm not too concerned about the order. Walker might leave before his contract ends, though. A significant portion of the team is off-contract next year.

RTS for me.

Either that or Webby sticks him back at left centre where he did last preseason and leaves him there. Stop using him as a bloody band aid and let him actually learn the spot.

If that happens I'd be ok with CNK at 1 because neither has played a lot of centre, but IMO Roger has the higher ceiling in that particular spot. And I cant (yet) imagine a team with neither of them in it.

What makes you think Metcalf at 7? Especially given TMM has a bunch of MoMs at 7?
