Who does everyone hate on souths?

Totally agree. I can't believe so many think the Panthers attack is predictable. They had a real chance last year but just succumb to injuries at the wrong time of the year. That team try against Manly on a Friday night last year was the best team try I think I have ever witnessed (happy to be corrected if someone wants to suggest a better team try).

Dragons v Souths 1999 at WIN Stadium. Blacklock ended up with the try.

We were the better team for 77 minutes. You blokes made the GF and we almost beat you.

We lost a handful of games in the dying seconds, that was inexpierience. This year it won't happen again. 37 days to go until we get our revenge...for the 1st time. Then again the 2nd time we play. Then again in the GF.

Please tell us who in your side is or was inexperienced that made you lose these close games?
Maybe, just maybe it was skill and fitness of the other teams and the greater desire to win.
Your mob has a close enough is good enough mentality. Don't see that changing this year with basically the same people in the squad.

fmd dragons fans skip logic classes. Burgess, Taylor and Sandow are all very young. And those 3 aren't exactly role players. Burgess and Taylor would have been 2 of our best, and Sandow plays a key position.

As for basically being the same squad, that's why the close losses won't happen again! You don't blood a team whose core is very young, enduring a lot of close losses, and then demolish the team and rebuild. We've added Inglis who is a big game player and won't lose his nerve if the ball is in his hands in a match that goes down to the final moments. Burgess and Taylor and Sandow and Co are all a year older and a year wiser (hopefully).

We won't win 77 minutes of a game anymore, we'll close them out, capitalise on our hard work and win the games we're supposed to win.

I think a lot of those heartbreak moments from last year will help this squad not make the same mistakes this year.

Ok I'll bite. Here's the thing, what happened 13 years ago, or 11 years ago (or 600 years ago) has little relevance on what happens this year.

People are looking at the talent of each squad, the Eels weren't good last year, if anything their squad has gone backwards since then. That's why few people are giving them a chance of making the 8.

I think the Eels will have a better year than most people think they will.

My logic? They generally have a good year followed by a year where they disappoint everyone followed by a year where they surprise everyone.

Their squad has little to do with it. Last years drop was an attitude problem coupled with a lack of understanding in their halves. Their chief playmaker has had his annus horriblis and will likely have a good season as no one expects much from them.

History has shown that Parramatta often bounce back after being complete gash. Don't be altogether too surprised if they do.

Parra isn't even the best team in western sydney. Everyone knows that's Canterbury.

South Sydney play their home games in Western Sydney

So you're saying the Bulldogs are better than Souths.

Finally, a post by BunniesMan that everyone can agree on

3 players make for an inexperienced squad?

Taylor has played SOO footy, Burgess has played International footy. I'm sure they are equipped to handle the pressure of NRL club footy after playing against the best of the best.
So you are basically stating it was Sandow's doing then, given Taylor & Burgess were 2 of your best.
To be honest the inexperienced one you refer to (Sandow) kept you in a lot of matches last year.

Your forwards were over rated and are not inexperienced. Their defensive effort was lazy.

Saints could basically use the same argument over inexperience.
Merrin, Prior, Green, Stanley all inexperienced by 1st grade standard.
Can I also use Boyd as inexperienced? He is around the same age as Taylor and was only playing his 2nd season as a Fullback in 1st grade.
What about Soward, his 2nd full season in 1st grade as a 5/8.

Even if the intangibles like attitude etc etc improve I just don't think they have the cattle to go anywhere. I see a lot of the Cowboys and the Sharks in them.

Even with a good attitude I doubt those teams go much beyond the bottom 4. Cowboys- one man team. Sharks - a good backrow with not much else. Eels - one man team.

Those 3 along with Manly will be the bottom 4 and competing for the spoon, IMO.

Good attitude and all that is important, but I think it has to be matched with the talent, and it just isn't there.

I have no issue with Souths however before people get carried away with their "Great Owner" remember this he is a convicted criminal who got smashed by an older man after startimg a fight and was out of his class. He is good against less opponents such as hotel desk clerks, he is arrogant as well. It is good to see him put money into Souths but he carries like he really is a Gladiator, memo to Russ, you are an actor it is all pretend. HaC has been sued and lost a defation case, comes from money he didnt make but was funded courtesy of his parents.
Star City is not about entertainment it is about bringing people in to gamble, if it as about entertainment close down the casino and put more entertainment facilities in. It is a crap casino and looses many high rollers to Crown even the ones they fliy out given it is a merely an RSL club on steroids with no value for money. The food is expensive and they also have a death to their credit. Crowe and HaC lied about doing "Due Dilligence" on firepower when it was all about creating the Ponzi scheme and fell apart, they promoted it but I doubt they invested in it while encouraging its members to do so.

We happen to play our home games in ANZ which happens to be in Western Sydney. That doesn't mean we're a western sydney team. We have our territory which is the area we represent, where our home games are held is a separate matter.

Not every post made needs to be responded to.
For example, when obvious pisstake is obvious, obvious geniused response is not actually required.

haha piss off....you were only ever winning because we got an absolute reaming by the pink merkins, including a try disallowed due to an imaginary forward pass.

Sure is...separate by about 25km

Soulless club.

My favourite part of that Roosters v souffs game btw, was when Sandow got steamrolled by a rampaging Mitch Aubusson over the tryline to win us the game.

Want to beat souffs kiddies? Run at Sandow. Don't worry BunnieswoMan, i'm sure it was just inexperience...

I liked when Sandow made a choking gesture to the Dragon Army, we went on to win the comp. Good times
