Ratt weren't as bad as some bands, and they only really had the glam look for probably there first 2 albums, the rest they where pretty casual.

It was an era, all bands where doing it, it was part of the image, i don't like what bands wore.....i just enjoyed the music.

I dont think it's any worse than the Black Metal/Corpsepaint image.

It's not that it's bad necessarily, I just don't get why they did it, it just seemed at odds with the attitudes of the bands.
The BM/Corpsepaint thing is more like KISS in that it's purely theatrical. It works when it's done well, but is pretty ridiculous much of the rest of the time.
