Why.....because he punched Steve price?

Mick Vella beat the crap out of cancer.

That makes him harder in my book.

Also, he was a better player. Carted the ball up very well and didn't shirk duties in defence.

Not talking about cancer.

Talking about rugby league.

Brett White.

Aaron Moule v Tony Martin

Nikau, when he played you could have been forgiven for thinking there were 3 of him out there. Seemed to be everywhere.

Jason Smith v Ian Russell

White is remembered for nothing that didn't involve his fists - or Cam Smith an Mick Croker holding someone for him to punch. Vella also won a minor premiership. TBH both were shown to be soft at times, but I do remember Vella flattening Martin Lang one day in the way white never could.

covell - not a ponce like Synomds

Boyd. Actually broke tackles

Marshall - just.

Flo in a canter

Terry Fahey or Nathan Merrit

Lock Daley vs Lock Fittler (Pretty sure Daley played some Lock)
Centre Daley vs Centre Fittler
5/8th Daley vs 5/8th Fittler

I didnt see much of Daley or pre 2000 Fittler so I'm pretty curious

Daley didn't play lock. Centre and 5/8. Although I do remember an experiment at fullback in the early 90s. Don't even think it lasted a game.

I would say

Centre - Daley (Just)
Five Eighth - Fittler (Just)

It would go like this

1990-93 - Daley (Just)
1994-97 - Even
1998-00 - Fittler (clearly better in my opinion)

Overall i would take Fittler i think he was consistently great throughout his career so was Daley but he suffered from injuries etc where as Fittler played at the top level for 14 years compared to 12 for Daley.

From 89 to at least 95 it was Daley pretty easily for mine. At center and 5/8.

Fittler played a lot of matches at lock in those days. He also won man of the series in the 94 ashes series. His game was very different back then to what it became he was more of a hole runner with an unbelievable step and great hands.

Daley had a 2 year start on him also and had the luxury of playing with better players with the exception of 90-91. They were different players back then.

Daley was better pre super league, Fittler was better post super league. I do think Daley was the better overall 5/8, especially between the ears so to speak.

Daley might have been playing for a champion team but he was a BIG part of that champion team.

Daley was the better 5/8 and more consistent. Daley did play a little lock but at the end of his career Fittler was a mile better there only because he had a bigger frame.

Garry Jack or Tim Brasher.
