They said today Asotasi won't do it cause he isnt Maori. Who is Maori out of:
Did he say that himself or have the maoris barred him from leading cause he isn't maori. im only asking cause it seems a little weird to me. I mean if they are not allowed to lead then why are they allowed to do it at all.

Sonny Bill leading the Haka would surely bring the ratings of women and gay men alike who do not normally watch football.

Before the match, the Aussies should do a "respect haka" as a sincere apology for Willie Mason's rancid and disrespectful dissing of same.

Of course it would be a total dog's breakfast.

Then let our NZ brothers turn on a real one.

The Haka in full flight-it enchants, astonishes and frightens all at once.

Fugging Magic.

I believe that Jake Webster, Benji Marshall, Nathan Cayless, Sam Rapira and Greg Eastwood are the Maori's in the team.

Also Dave Faiumu - is maori(his mothers side) apparently he speaks maori aswell.
Pritchard - is a maori-associated family name plus in the media reports about the incident his family was involved with the sydney media reported his family of being maori (but who knows maybe still havent worked out the difference betwen samoan and maori). so possibly frankie pritchard.

each time i have seen the kiwis do th haka, frank pritchard has been very close to the frotn and has definitely lookd the most intimidating

i think it would have to be him!

i think it was more of a personal choice that he didn't want to do the haka!

Pritchard is Samoan.

Webster and Cayless are Mozzies (Maori Aussies).

Benji could be the man! I am more concerned about the game than who'll lead the haka.

In the 1988 World Cup final, the Kiwis (coach Tank Gordon) were obsessed by the haka at the expense of the game plan.

Benji is only young and I really don't find him intimidating anyway let alone doing the Haka.

How about one of the forwards..

i knew mita, lived next door to him in Christchurch and he loved to celebrate his culture.

benji was right into his kapa haka in whakatane, i reckon he would do the kiwis proud.

Thurston is aboriginal, but apparently he has maori heritage aswell.

Other aborigine/maori:
Timana Tahu
Carl Webb
Andrew Walker

Karmichael is a cook island maori

andrew walker maori? thats a new one

k hunt is samoan/cook islander and pritchard is full samoan. Asotasi said on the news lastnight he doesnt want to lead the haka cause hes samoan and he wants a maori to do it there 10 samoans in that kiwi line up and 5 maoris. My bet would be on benji.

I can, sort of, understand the desire for a Maori to lead the Haka, but if it's okay for Tana Umaga to do it in rah-rah then why not an islander or pakeha in RL?

Because i think when Tana first did it - in that game there wasnt a maori who wanted to do it, and since he did such a good job, he continued

Since there are a few maoris in the Kiwi lineup for tommorrow, i think they should let a maori lead it

Halatau: pakeha/niuean
Vatuvei: Tongan
Mannering: Pakeha/??
Faiumu: Maori/Samoan

How is there 10 samoans/5 maoris??

Asotasi didnt say he didnt want do it - it more he would ask the maori boys first out of respect.
Cant really compare to the All Blacks - as they have long tours and profressional tutors therefore they can practise and play like a 100 games a year.
Kiwis have 4 days to prepare.

Big Si should lead it. Even though Im pretty sure he has no Maori blood in him.

In all seriousness Frankie Pritchard should lead it. His parents are Maori aren't they?

Krisnan Inu, SAMOAN
Jake Webster, MAORI/AUSSIE
Iosia Soliola, SAMOAN
Simon Mannering, PAKEHA
Manu Vatuvei, TONGAN
Benji Marshall, MAORI
Ben Roberts, SAMOAN
Nathan Cayless, MAORI/AUSSIE
Dene Halatau, NIUE/AUSSIE
Roy Asotasi (captain), SAMOAN
Sonny Bill Williams, SAMOAN/PAKEHA
Tony Puletua, SAMOAN
David Fa'alogo, SAMOAN
David Faiumu, SAMOAN/MAORI
Sam Rapira, MAORI
Greg Eastwood, MAORI/PAKEHA
Frank Pritchard. SAMOAN

ONLY 9 SAMOANS.

I'M SURE THAT ANYONE OUT OF FAIUMU, RAPIRA, MARSHALL OR WEBSTER, LEADING THE HAKA, WILL DO IT JUSTICE.

PERSONALLY, i PREFER SEEING A MAORI LEAD THE HAKA
