Who's better?

Cement married a good friend of mine. He was as quiet as a mouse off the field.

When he played for the Sea Eagles, he got a serious injury to his hand. In reality, he was blind drunk carrying his daughter's pram up the back stairs of their Lakemba unit, tripped and fell down a few stairs, f**king himself up.

Gillespie. Much better career overall.

Anthony Watmough or Tonie Carroll?

Watmough was effective in both attack and defence. Had a huge motor and wasn't just about making good hits.

That being said, Tonie Carroll was a very good player on his day. I think there was too many off days to pip Watmung.

Bradley Clyde. Won premierships, won tests, won Origin matches. Better defender that JT and had far superior ball skills.

David Gillespie or John Cartwright?
The other thing Clyde had was his work rate that out shone pretty much every one during that era - including all the 1 %ers like first to kick-chase, defensive scramble, first receiver hit up after kick returns and the list goes on...all the things that weren't even performance measured when he was doing them.

He had a massive motor for a bigger sized lock, possibly equalled by Junior Pearce but Pearce didn't have the skill sets Clyde had.

Never saw Chook Raper play but Clyde still rates as the best lock and one of the most complete footballers I ever saw

Mark Tookey or John Buttigieg?
Probably Buttigieg...tough consistent prop who had SoO representation for Qld in winning sides, Tookey had a more hot and cold career for mine - at his best he was a very dynamic footballer but the difference between his best and his worst was poles apart

Glenn Lazarus or Petro Civinoceva?

Lazo. Didn't matter what club he went to just lead the way and allowed others do their jobs. Premierships with 3 different clubs. Off the field I will take Petro every day though. Good man. Lazo is a prick.

Brett Kenny or Peter Sterling.

Definitely Kenny

Sterlo was a good player but Kenny was a freak who makes any ALL Time Blues side. If you dont have him there you didnt see him play.

Scott Prince or Brett Kimmorley?

Kimmorley. Was at his best for longer than Prince.

Matt Cooper or Mark Gasnier?

Cooper one of the best defensive centres ever, Gasnier a far greater attacking weapon.

I'l go with Gasnier, just for his years between 04-06 in which he was a freak.

Ben Barba or Jarryd Hayne

Hayne for sure. Barba was fast and clever but Hayne had him beat for size and pure xfactor imo. Hayne could also play anywhere from lock to fullback where Barba was really only a fullback

Adam MacDougall or Wendell Sailor

On or off the juice?
Absolutely a legitimate question. Howe (to this day) is the best prop I've ever seen play rugby league when on the juice.

Overall....Gallen...despite his juicing.

Willie Carne or Michael Hancock?

I dislike the bloke as he was an absolute cheat. But the form he brought to the field in that half a season before he got done for roids was the best I've ever seen from a front rower. Australian selectors at that time were pretty much forced to pick him because of the insane form that he was in. Ran very hard and and have very high metre and tackle counts every week without fail. I'll never forget Sterlo on commentary say in a game words to the tune that he must be on something (in a joking manner). A few weeks after he said that, he got done for steroids.

You can’t have seen a lot of footy then
Prior to Tommy T this year, the best spurt of form I've seen from a fullback was from Hayne. Would I say he is the best fullback ever? Not even close. Same sort of thing with Rodney Howe at that time.
