Why are Gallop and the NRL so ANTI the Central Coast Bears?

David Gallop is already responsible for putting massive financial pressure on most clubs through an atrocious TV deal which slashed potential revenues the game deserved.

Now - After 10 years of fighting and commitment, the Central Coast Bears are still waiting for this wanker to make the proper and correct call - that the Central Coast Bears will join the NRL competition in 2013.

Gallop has the hide to still whore $8-10 million around as a carrot to other clubs to uproot and move to Gosford - Cronulla are the latest. Yet he won't give the money to the Bears who instigated and helped fund the stadium in the first place.

It stinks of double standards and an agenda. Incredibly unprofessional way to run a business.

Maybe, the only way to resolve this is a class action by Bears members and supporters - make it public, make it ugly - becasue there are many events from 10 years that no-one would want to see dragged out again.

A Cronulla Sharks/Central Coast Bears joint venture would be a wonderful solution. The Bears team and colours in the NSW Cup, the Central Coast Sharks in the NRL

Yep, and most of these people would've been on the Bear's board at the time.

Putting Gallop and Whore in the same sentence is an insult to all the hard working whores out there trying to turn an honest buck.

The most important thing to remember is the game has had to heal itself and expand itself..Gallop is still representing the interests of his employer News Ltd in propping up their pay tv and recouping monies they lost in the SL war.
In order to do that he must plunder monies owed to the clubs thru the tv and marketing rights.
We have soccer and AFL expanding and yet in a boom league area we ignore the Central Coast for half baked options to play a game here or there.
Gallop was a highy paid Super League operative who was paid a success fee to erdaicate then ARL clubs..he has not changed his spots..the sooner he is moved on the better it will be this game..but it must happen soon!

The excuse that the NRL will give is that they don't want a 17 team competition at the moment and would rather solidify their position with the current 16 clubs.

If the Sharks relocate to the Central Coast for example and take full advantage of the funds available and the stadium etc they will not only be in a position to access the grant from the NRL they will also be able to sell assets in Cronulla and can potentially turn themselves into a real Rugby League powerhouse.

The Shire is hemmed in on all sides by the Dragons and there just isnt the junior base or the growing population base (due to geographical constraints) that will provide long term viability for the Sharks where they are.

The NRL know that this is the case and they're going to be aware of the financial position of the Sharks and other clubs.

They would rather see a current club relocate to the Coast rather than create a 17 team comp and then have bye's etc only to see a current club fold and then face the wrath of that clubs fans who will accuse the NRL of knowing what was going on and doing nothing to help.

The downside is this sucks major dogs balls for Bears fans and I hope that the Sharks DONT relocate to Gosford. I'd prefer to see the Bears there.

I think its a joke, the CC needs its own club. It can only be the bears.

The reality is that the Bears were wrongly put into administration THEN $12 million+ was put into the Bears AFTER the merger with Manly. If this was ever genuinely investigated (for example, in a class action), there would be numerous high profile indivuals and businesses very keen not to see this exposed.

Now, a club that is genuinely broke is being protected once again.

10 years the Bears have been waiting. The Cronulla proposal for Gosford is virtually identical to the Northern Eagles fraud in 1999.

If it happens, you can be assured that the backlash will be significant and the legal ramifications significant - which would be even more damaging for rugby league.

Galllop needs to tread very, very carefully here. As do News Limited.

 Probably the funniest thing youve ever written on a forum.

The reality of the situation is that An NRL license is far too valuable a commodity to be wasted on yet another NSW club within driving distance of 10 existing teams.

While sad that a foundation club such as the Bears was mismanaged to bankruptcy, I don't see how they can re-enter.

1. Gallop has stated that the NRL sees Perth, Wellington, the Central Coast and SE-QLD (again) as likely bases for future NRL clubs.

2. He has stated that 18 teams is the highest the NRL can accommodate.

3. He has stated (numerous times) that the NRL believe there are too many Sydney based clubs.

4. There is an $8-$12 million dollar offer for an existing team to relocate to the Central Coast.

5. The available sponsorship and corporate support in the greater Sydney area is strongly contested, the 10 clubs within driving distance won't want yet another competitor, especially given the financial concerns of NSW clubs over the coming years.

6. An additional Central Coast team won't provide the increase in TV revenue that Perth or Wellington can.

7. A relocation to the CC is a far easier sell then to Perth or NZ or QLD. Fans can still get to the stadium relatively easy.

By relative I take it you mean the Central Coast in relation to travelling to Perth or New Zealand?

True - but in reality, they may as well relocate to the moon if past history of Sharks fans travelling is taken into account. They wont even travel to the SFS in numbers greater than 100 people.

The round journey from the Shire to Gosford by train is about 4-5 hours depending on the day you travel, wait times etc. Travel time alone is close about 2 hours each way.

By road - well take your pick. If it's a Friday night game, you can forget it. I once drove from Sydney CBD to the Central Coast on a Friday arvo. I left at 3pm and got to Terrigal at 7.30pm. THAT'S ONE WAY!!!

The only way to get from Cronulla to Gosford "relatively easily" is by helicopter.

Of course - the Shire could just relocate to Terrigal. I'm not sure that anyone would notice much :p
