Gallen's comeback will be welcome news for NSW Origin coach Laurie Daley, who will also be pleased with the return to form of halfback Mitchell Pearce and to a lesser extend, five-eighth James Maloney.

I've defended Pearce before in the past but he is playing as badly as he's ever played lately, kicking game is abysmal, and he's suffering from the good old Kurt Gidley syndrome of not playing what's in front of him, last night when Guerra made a break and got tackled just before the line, next play Pearce had a scrambling defence, for some reason Pearce called for the ball on the right hand side where the roosters were outnumbered by about 5 defenders to 3 attackers, still chose to throw the short ball to Mitch Aubusson despite there being a wall of defenders in front of Aubusson. Pearce just has no variety in his game ATM, he's basically down to two plays, aimless bombs and short balls to the backrower.

I'd trust Gallen's opinion on league more than some of the niffnuffs on here.

I like the youtube video that proves Pearce is the worst halfback to ever represent NSW.

He's an average half surrounded by stars that boost his stats and make him look good on paper.

I worried about putting Pearce into SOO as he didn't have that "X" factor in attack. He has improved a huge amount in the last 12 months but if he is selected this year and doesn't produce then I think its time to think about someone else.

What makes me laugh is that $ouff$ supporters will bag someone who takes wrong options yet their half and 5/8 make one good decision in a game (and many many wrong ones) and they call for them to be selected. Reynolds and Sutton should never ever be let near SOO.

On selection based on form I tend to agree, although QLD have often picked players not based on club form. Once they produce for QLD thats enough. Myles is a perfect example
