Its not like nz league fans have ever been used to winning against australia....not sure what we average but maybe one win every 5 or 6 test matches? and its been like this for a 100 years...it wasn't better in the old days....we still got beaten most of the time.
So yeah get over yourselfs we always struggle against aussie and it has never improved.
We dont bag Mark Graham and co for always just missing the win...we were just unlucky......but everytime the warriors lose whether it by 1 point or 20 we were total shit!
Or is everyone on these forums just new leaguies.....and only follow the team who won lasts years GF?

To be fair if you let a 22 point lead go, you deserve to be bagged.
Kudos for the first half though but to just switch off and let it all slip means it was for nothing.

I can't get what burning the shirts or lambasting them on Facebook would achieve however.

It hasn't really, Australia's world dominance began at the end of the 70s early 80s - the Lewis, Sterling, Kenny etc era - The Poms, the French and even NZ had various eras where each were the best...

Certainly not going to burn my jerseys over it like those mongs did

I did put my match ticket through the shredder though, rather than just bin it. So much easier to bin, so much better to shred.

The bastard had my name on it too. No way I want a worker down at the recycling centre having a hoot over that. I live in a small town, we all know eachother.

Roll on the Eels game, but I just hope we're still a chance for the eight.

We have the potential to be the best 1 of the best teams in the comp but we are not reaching that potential and for me thats the most frustrating thing.

People say this but do they really? I expected this team to be a mid ladder, fringe 8 team with the pack they have and that's looking about right. With the pack they have they do not have the potential to be a top team.

With regards to the thread topic, there has always to me seemed to be a bit of a superiority complex among some union fans in NZ who love a chance to bag on the league team.. But the number of gutless performances is also asking for it. There's losses you can accept as a fan, the Warriors have served up too many losses of the unacceptable variety, such as this most recent effort.

They open themselves up for ridicule

Promise the world and deliver sfa

Laughing stock of the comp...

And how mentally fragile we appear to be. We collapse like no others. All the talent in the world but.

Tui Lolohea is the archtypal NZ Warrior of the last five years. I imagine he just carved it up at school, even more so in informal, after school, settings down at the playground or local park.

Those union fans need to be careful though, some of us have long memories. Those five consecutive RWC 'chokes' are not forgotten. When looking back it's a remarkeable fail, plenty worse than our failure in a club competition.

I'm with you, they are hugely overrated

The Warriors aren't the Kiwis. Australia will always dominate through sheer numbers where no salary cap is applied. Warriors have a more level playing field.

This mentality that you have is a large part of the reason why the Warriors and Kiwi league in general lose, they seem to have a similar mentality.

Just happy to be invited to the dance and expect nothing more.

Thread question must surely be rhetorical considering it was posted following a massive warriors choke...

ok talking mentality....so if kiwi league players are not winners...and we know nz union players are winners and aussie league players are winners...should we make up the warriors from aussies and rugger players?
also we are so superior in union to other countries...are we producing super footballers, or are the other countries just got pretty ordinary players??

We should make up the Warriors with the best available players. Irrespective of where they come from.
Many of our best players have been Australian.

Imagine if the Australians made noises about an 'Aussies only' policy at their clubs.

When just looking at NZ talent:
Top NZ talent plays union.
Mental not tough enough.
Don't have the lower grade competition as tough as Aussie.
Culture issues; see TKO.

We really should look to poach from the greatest international sports team in all of sports and thats the All Blacks. Theres some guys there that can make the transition and are so good (e.g. athletic like Mannering) but may never play for the All Blacks. Guys James Lowe from the Chiefs, Jordan Taufua from the Crusaders. Just gotta constantly hit up some of these union guys and remind them they can play for their country, might not be an All Black but they very well could be a Kiwi.

Get over ourselves? What are you on about.

This isn't international league. The Warriors are a franchise comprising of both Australian and NZ players. The Kangaroo vs Kiwi debate is not even a discussion as they're obviously miles ahead of us. And just lol at bringing in union players to save the Warriors, that's the whole problem we need to get over the fact that going local isn't the answer and it never was. Had lots of yawnion crew in our 90s teams and a fat lot of good that did us.

Right now, we have a good roster and should be competing in the top four instead of rummaging around the spoon. Premiership winning? We're a few forwards short. But with a good coach this spine should be absolutely minting tries and we've shown we can adequately defend if our heads are in it. This team has twice the talent Cleary had to work with during most of his tenure.

But therein lies the rub, most of these guys are on a lazy year-long vacation, and for some reason it's acceptable. Look at the way Gubb and Tui are getting roaring social media support about what a crime it is we are letting them go, do we really idolise mediocrity like that? Tui should be twice the player that he is, instead he's heading the same way Kevin Locke did.

As fans, we have every right to bag the Warriors if they underperform.

And most of us I imagine will continue to stick it out as we have since 1995, deal with it.
