Why does rugby league have trouble expanding internationally compared to other codes

Have you kept up to speed on what happened in France in 1941.The French Govt in their Commission into Sport under Vichy ,pointed the finger at union for trying to destroy rl.Hardly being naught yea downright sporting disgrace and sporting bastardly at its worst.
No reparations made. The FRU got off scot free.

Here in 2016, though, it's time Rugby League stopped making excuses and looked at it's own shortcomings. there are still examples of Union roadblocks but for the most part, 95% of the time the issue is lack of vision by administrators, lack of expansion support from fans, and lack of funds as a result.

yep totally true. Look at PNG, massive popularity, massive playing base, on the doorstep of the NRl yet only in recent times has there been any real focus on improving them and even now that is no where near making them able to challenge the big 3 at IRL level.

An ineffective RLIF that receives little support from the main governing bodies combined with any real lack of strategic plan is RL's biggest obstacle, not Union.

I'm not making excuses for today's situation, I'm pointing out to union tragics ,events which they love to ignore .The very fact French rl was skewered ,has placed the code in that country in an also ran situation.
The code has only just been given the OK to play the code or learn it in public schools.

It's all about money ,which you continually ignore. The RLEF gets a decent grant from the European Sports Commission, without that they would be pushing uphill.
The RLIF gets its money from RLWC profits.
RLWCs of late have made about $5m ,hardly a kings ransom.
Again you or I have NFI of what the RLIF's strategic plan is.It all relates to available funds. If you don't get that then I can't help.
BTW development officers in PNG are being funded by the NRL as well as Health programmes.
Perhaps attribute some blame to the likes of Gallop and News ,who screwed the code for funding prior to 2012.

Tonight's game is the reason why. We just don't have a competitive product. We're trying to make a niche market for ourselves in London, and games like tonight and the test against New Zealand last year kill all enthusiasm for it. The rest of the world know Australia will win every tournament or reach the final at the least. It makes for a boring product. Why watch a tournament when you already know the result. There is only so many times you can sit and enjoy Australia's class.......

Think the All Black's dominance for so long, argues against that point.

The Scottish RL team did something the Scottish RU team has never been able to do against NZ.

Bore blacks slip up from time to time against other nations other than the number 2. Australia don't.........
They have a larger group of teams able to chase them. We've got NZ.............
As I said, you can only watch the odd upset from NZ every once in a while and stay invested before the boredom sets in if you're a casual watcher.

How long has their dominance gone on for?
As you said, their crowds are going down through lack of competition. We've been stuck with 1 team winning everything for generations now. How does that make our product look attractive to new audiences?

2 teams. NZ have won the world cup and 4nations in recent times

This. not so long ago NZ had won 3 in a row against Australia and were deserved World #1. Plus they still hold the 4Nations. Australia have had a dominant year but NZ haven't been full strength or close to it in any games recently.

Sure there are some disappointments but there are also plenty of positive signs in International RL recently.

Yes..... RECENTLY
And look how well that has gone the last 2 years.
Sure, we were missing players last year, and a couple this year. But doesn't that just show how Australia dominates? We have to be missing no one and all in form to pull off a win or 2.

A change in attitude from Australia and they're right back to where they were.
We are relying on Australia to have a bad year and NZ to always be at full strength to have an "upset"

Americas Cup grew in stature every event even though the US would win it for 132 years
