Why is perth bid so secretive?!

Perth nrl will do nothing for Fox
Afl fans in Perth already have kayo so do league fans

a Perth nrl team will just get some afl fans watching Perth nrl games instead of afl games involving non Perth teams

whereas another team in Brisbane means more broncos games on fox driving subscribers as well as growth
The ultimate scenario is three Queensland vs Sydney games on FTA each week.

At some stage the Storm will come back to Earth and lose supporters in SEQ. When that happens they'll go from being on FTA 12 times a year to 6 or 8.

I think News Ltd will lose some of their bargaining power over the next decade. Ch9 desperately needs content for STAN. Having every NRL live and in 4K on STAN would be a huge selling point.

And Nine will be happy with losing Broncos games, why?

If Perth only get 6 FTA games then they'll need to average 121,666 in Perth to bump up the average to 18k. If a Perth-based teams gets 9 games on FTA, like the Dolphins, then they'll need to draw an average of 81,111 viewers in Perth. That's more than what the Eagles averaged in Perth in 2023.

the point isn't which region of QLD he is referring to, the point is that his comment is just vague, bullish political talk. You guys have interpreted it as Fordham is pushing for Brisbane 3.

Fordham did speak about more content in SEQ.

I suppose you'll take that to mean he wants Magic Round in Perth?

Just answer the f**ken question. The more you dodge the dumber and more desperate you come across.

Bangs his head on the wall repeatedly at the stupidity of some people on this forum.
15k A GAME avg INCREASE, that was the benefit for Ch9 of the Dolphins (and Broncos doing well)

Banging on about Nine in such a misguided fashion....lol

9.546m aggregate viewers in Brisbane in 2023 on Nine FTA - admittedly helped with more matches shown.
7.776m aggregate viewers in Brisbane in 2022 on Nine FTA

Given the reduction in Broncos games on FTA tv....how anyone doesnt see that as an unmitigated win is beyond me.

And even so, its fortunately not all about Nine, as we saw Fox literally come up with tens of millions for the dolphins expansion.

I like the idea of an NRL Perth expansion, but tv audiences is not a convincing argument given what AFL rates over there already, and the NRL is unlikely to get anywhere near that - even the AFL is multichanneled a lot over there. Nonetheless I believe Perth to be one of the better calls for a 20th team if the NRL can get over the cash on offer from the feds for PNG, and get enough government support.

Clubs like Brisbane Tigers are already financially sound, ratings money is the bonus for the league - same as it was for the Dolphins. I mean its hard to argue with thousands of members, 25m in cash reserves, a modern and existing centre of excellence.....

and when they stop and the NRL has no financial benefit, in fact is losing money to a PNg side then what? Wb seems to think the NRl is goign to be skimming off the top to make up for lack of growth in tv value a PNG team brings lol
They'll bring in another Brisbane team and V'landys will eat popcorn as he watches you bitch and moan.

orrrrr they need to up the avg across all games whilst getting a healthy bump on their own games.

You now as well as I do that the real value increase in the next deal will come from primarily the ninth game to sell and most importantly competitive tension. Location of the clubs actually doesnt make a lot of difference as AFL has shown with its windfall despite bringing in GWS and Suns.

leagues club members is not the same as team memberships. My mother is a member at Dolphins, she can't stand Rugby League and never ever watches it.
