Why would a billion dollar organisation act this way?

Tender is the best way to avoid corruption and cronyism.
Did the original ring use quality precious metals and diamonds. It would be nice to know if the specifications matched the price tag.

Why would a billion dollar organisation put contracts out to tender and go with the best deal for the business?

Literally every billion dollar organisation would act this way you gibbering codpiece. the NRL is a business. It is looking after its business. That's why Dave Smith is the best CEO we've ever had.

It is a story about morals, something you, big business and the NRL would not have any of.

Probably a story about modern society and business, it is all about the quid, f**k humanity.

I thought it was a story without morals, the tacky, pathetic & manipulative kind that makes out that the NRL is responsible for the high blood pressure of an old man that "almost claimed his life".

Pathetic.

Says the bloke actively seeking a club that many many children support to die so a club a dozen petrol sniffing dickheads can't get over the death of can come back. You seem to have no problem bending over people when the colour orange is involved. if Zed & Zed sponsored Balmain junior clubs you'd be the first person applauding the NRL making a sound business decision.

You are the typical telegraph reader, so easily manipulated into outrage.

I liked the part where the telegraph blame the NRL for his high blood pressure and nearly dying, I can't believe the NRL is trying to kill innocent old immigrants. Outrage!

It operates for the good of rugby league, not a jeweller, obviously they have got a better deal elsewhere, that's business, as a businessman he should be use to it.

To be fair, BM is probably confused.
DT readers are supposed to hate immigrants, they steal our jobs, live off our taxes, disrespect our beaches etc

So at the end of the day, he's upset because he's losing a five or 6 figure deal. That'd stress me out too. Not the NRL's problem.

Like when Canterbury were stripped of all points during the 2002 salary cap scandal and Zreik, knowing the players weren’t responsible, fashioned them each a gold ring. Coaching staff too.
Did it have CHEATS engraved where it usually says PREMIERS?

and each time he was there in the telegraph getting a plug, it's no different to bookies who pay out early or refund losing bets.

The Telegraph also whinged when poor old Gerry Harvey could no longer afford the origin naming rights after the ARLC decided to put it to tender, is there little wonder why the game was undersold when these clowns were running things.

You would never see the NFL or FIFA trying to make more money....
FIFA is one of the worst organizations on earth. It is an international joke. We shouldn't want our game to be run by people like FIFA.
I actually think the rings are a bit "cheap" looking and could do with a face lift.

It's seems a bit strange to think that someone believes they are owed a living.

The man's health is certainly unfortunate

Hahaa I know this guy personally, trust me he will never struggle for cash.
He didn't say it would send him broke. There is more to life than money. It is pretty clear this hurt him on an emotional level, not financially.

Without explanation. He hadn't been told anything was wrong with price or quality so he never got a chance to fix things if anything was a problem. For all his services to league he should have been given a proper chance. Not just an abstract tender with no real information.

And if they undersold the rights to fashion the rings to this already well off individual you'd be screaming the joint down about how the NRL needs to be ran like a business and not just giving jobs to mates or making decisions based on emotion rather than good business sense.

It's people like you that's destroying Rugby League, not the refs, the rules, the crowds, people like you who will whinge about shit no matter what it is just to have a f**king whinge. You're a f**king disgrace.

How are you privy to the content of tender, to such an extent you can pass judgment on it?

You aren't, so pull your head of your arse

Geez, it is about 30 rings I doubt it would be 6 figures.

If someone else but BM had posted the article the majority of the wankers would be posting an opposite opinion.
