Why would a billion dollar organisation put contracts out to tender and go with the best deal for the business?
Literally every billion dollar organisation would act this way you gibbering codpiece. the NRL is a business. It is looking after its business. That's why Dave Smith is the best CEO we've ever had.
It is a story about morals, something you, big business and the NRL would not have any of.
Probably a story about modern society and business, it is all about the quid, f**k humanity.

You are the typical telegraph reader, so easily manipulated into outrage.
I liked the part where the telegraph blame the NRL for his high blood pressure and nearly dying, I can't believe the NRL is trying to kill innocent old immigrants. Outrage!
It operates for the good of rugby league, not a jeweller, obviously they have got a better deal elsewhere, that's business, as a businessman he should be use to it.
Why hasn't Smith apologised yet
Did it have CHEATS engraved where it usually says PREMIERS?Like when Canterbury were stripped of all points during the 2002 salary cap scandal and Zreik, knowing the players weren’t responsible, fashioned them each a gold ring. Coaching staff too.
FIFA is one of the worst organizations on earth. It is an international joke. We shouldn't want our game to be run by people like FIFA.You would never see the NFL or FIFA trying to make more money....
I actually think the rings are a bit "cheap" looking and could do with a face lift.
It's seems a bit strange to think that someone believes they are owed a living.
The man's health is certainly unfortunate
He didn't say it would send him broke. There is more to life than money. It is pretty clear this hurt him on an emotional level, not financially.Hahaa I know this guy personally, trust me he will never struggle for cash.
So at the end of the day, he's upset because he's losing a five or 6 figure deal. That'd stress me out too. Not the NRL's problem.

Without explanation. He hadn't been told anything was wrong with price or quality so he never got a chance to fix things if anything was a problem. For all his services to league he should have been given a proper chance. Not just an abstract tender with no real information.
