Why would a billion dollar organisation act this way?

You gotta laugh at them trying to make it out like he came up with the idea of giving rings to the winners and as such deserves special treatment...

They've only been giving out championship rings in sports for over 90 years...

All this guy did was bring attention to the ARL what the American's were doing... And he did so to benefit his business first and foremost.

This stuff happens in business everyday, however you don't usually have the Murdoch press using it to push their own agenda.

I'm sure Allan Zreik is a nice guy and all but you'd be hard pressed to find a better bloke than Sam at Affinity Diamonds. He did my wife's engagement and our wedding rings.

Just a genuinely good guy.

Poor diddums.

Pretty much.

Look, i feel for the guy if its something he brought to the NRL and it was sort of "his baby" for years. But at the end of the day, he doesn't own the idea nor the god given right to produce the rings. All the NRL has done here is not hire him this year, get over it.

Have you seen the rings?

They actually look like a bloke from Lebanon designed them in the 70's

Hideous looklng things.

They'd be better going with a tattoo mob supplying premiers tattoos these days

You act like he was doing it for free, the reason he did it at cost was also a business decision, because he got exposure for his business, that's why there's been a picture of him every year in the telegraph holding the GF ring. He also got to sell licensed NRL jewellery.

Correct. I've bought zed n zed nrl stuff on the basis they do the premiers rings

How are you privy to the content of tender, to such an extent you can pass judgment on it?

Mensa member, Cop, male model - he knows everything

Rings are just a piece of American wankery that's infiltrated our game.

I actually like them. It allows the players to wear what they've earned. The medal just sits in a drawer at home

It's a business BM, & that's a business decision. Need to save more money for the players....

I agree with what you say though - sad evolvement of rugby league.

I heard the new rings are a good 2-3k more expensive.

It's a tough call. Maybe there is more on offer as far as advertising, sponsorship and discounts that we may not be privy to.

The dude put forth his price and failed. One can reasonably assume that his price may have also gone up? OR that the news rings are not, in fact, 2-3k more expensive?

Either that, or there has been an outcry against the design, and the NRL want something a bit more flash?

The whole article was rubbish. Pulling on the heart strings for a guy who charges too much for a product. Oh dear.

Rings are for women, gangsters and nancy boys. Just go back to the $5 medallion (inscribed) you can hang on the wall or put in a draw.
