If Widdop’s shoulder is stuffed I’d release him now. Or renegotiate his contract down to the 2019 season. If he suffers another injury to the same shoulder playing for us in 2019 his chances of getting an English contract would diminish and he’d want to ‘fulfil’ his St G contract.

Widdop stays with us for 2019.

The target then should be Corey Norman. His game as a 5/8 would compliment Hunt very nicely. He is also off contract at the end of 2019.

Locking in Norman now for 2020 and beyond would be a very astute move and may explain why we have been very quiet on the recruitement front.

Gareth there is some truth to it. He will be with this year but mybe not after that.

One thing clear to me, is that Widdop shouldn't be captain in 2019 before he departs to the UK. I want someone that is passionate and bleeds red & white. Give me JDB or Friz!

Hope Widdop plays out 2019 with Saints.

If the club were able to secure Norman or Munster immediately I would let him go now.

The club can't afford to play Widdop if his heart and focus are elsewhere.

It may prove to be Field's opportunity to trial at 5/8 before we attempt to sign a high profile 5/8.

Personally, I would attempt to target A.J. Brimson asap as a long-term solution.

One thing is for sure Lomax and Field should start practising their goal kicking as it may be the key to playing FG.
