At least they had a go. For that reason I look forward to cheering them on next game. Most clubs go through tough times but effort is all we can ask for from the players themselves. They busted their guts and were all devastated at the end. They could have easily packed it in before kick-off with everything that's gone on this year and this week but they didn't, and I can't remember a time that they have in the last couple of years. There are a few clubs out there that I don't think can say the same thing every week and I am so glad not to be a fan of those teams.

We lack a lot of class, but I think now is a time to be proud of the players honestly.

Absolutely.

No way I'm going to deny that. Still hurts like hell though and I didn't even get to see most of the game. If we're feeling like this I can only imagine how they're feeling at the moment. They showed up and gave it absolutely everything when they could have easily used every excuse to not even bother. And that's really all we can ask for. When the finals came beyond our reach improving our performances was the only thing I wanted to see and we got that tonight.

I still think we might be headed for the spoon. I can't see the boys getting up after that to win too many more. Too crushing. But as long as they keep trying for a win I'll keep cheering them on.

Just looking back at the match, Manly were bloody horrible. We tried hard but honestly, I think any other side puts them away tonight.

Actually, I don't feel sorry for them, I don't care about luck. We are reaping what we sow. Soft options and piss weak management is on display for all to see.

Tough clubs find a way forward, make the tough calls and prosper. We don't.

But I'm making my call, until they put a flamethrower through the place, burn down the village and salt the soil, I'm not wasting any more time or more importantly money until they can prove to the world that they have learnt their lesson and the tough calls have been made.

Personally it might only account for $1500 per year in tickets and clothing but they need to learn a hard lesson and right now they haven't.

For what its worth, I had been preparing a submission regarding a sponsorship proposal for one of my brands which is number one in our primary segment. We wouldn't have been naming rights sponsor but I would have thought it would have been shorts or perhaps the stadium.

In all honesty, I can't proceed with it whilst ever we are such a train wreck.........................

What are the tough calls we should have made that we haven't, besides holding onto Gidley?

Probably our most heart wrenching loss ever. In the clubs history. Sure we got smacked by Brisbane by 70 points but this one just sucked.

Heartbreaking lost, but not the end of the world. The effort was definitely there from all 17 players tonight. Lets build on that for the remainder of the season.
Some good signs. Tapine looks the goods. Boyd got involved.
Uate had a good game except for a dropped bomb.
The Knights defense was pretty good overall.
Mullen and Roberts still can't close out a game though.
In the press conference Mullen said they practice giving it off to Boyd to take the field goal to take pressure off Mullen.
Mullen just doesn't have that killer instinct.
They are better of going for a try than a field goal.
I can't remember the last time the Knights won kicking a field goal?

Uates contract vs. performance.
Boyds shitty attitude and effort.
Gids. Enough said.
The teams utter lack of consistency for 3 years, at what point do we start holding players accountable and ringing the changes.
Bennett admitting that whatever he is doing, isn't working and adapting.
Mids as CEO.
Recruitment and retention particularly refreshing the pack.
Members council not calling out the circus that is HSG and Tinkler.
Giving HSG so much leeway in the current negotiations.

I note that Gids didn't front up after his effort, sent poor Mullo.

If he was injured, then fair enough. If he wasn't then it's pretty weak.

Gutted. Absolutely gutted, wanted to cry when that field goal went over.

Just quietly, does anyone remember the last time we actually kicked a field goal in a first grade match? I have a feeling it was against the Sharks about 3 years ago in a scrappy home game, but seriously we embarrass ourselves whenever the moment comes for someone to be a hero and ice the game.

We had two chances to win in the last 10 mins and absolutely murdered both of them. How Kurt missed that penalty goal is beyond me, and Mullo was dead set 20m out and right in front of the goal with one minute to go and decides he can't handle it and passes to Boyd, who against all odds missed the shot with no one on him. Then DCE shows he has the guts to take the game by the scruff of the neck and kicks an absolute ripper from 45m out from near the wing whilst facing backwards, blindfolded and doing a handstand.

I feel like we are the most unlucky team in the comp sometimes, how that try to Rochow was disallowed I just can't understand, and the Jorge Taufua try was an absolute fluke of physics, the ball bounces off the ground then another players leg after being in orbit for about 5 years and ends up in his hands. I know that this is just raw emotion and will doubtlessly sound stupid tomorrow but we are literally cursed, I feel like last year's fluke run into the semis was just there to make us all feel even worse this year.

That being said I can't fault our boys on effort this week. Just their execution when it mattered really.

Uates contract vs. performance.

Uate had a pretty decent season last year. Not his best but I think all players are entitled to a dip in form, he still scored 15 tries which is great for a winger. Did you want them to cut him mid-season this year? What does that achieve?

Boyds shitty attitude and effort.

I hate Boyd but I think bringing him here was the tough decision. He kicked the club favourite out of his spot.

Again, did you want the club to kick him out while he was actually playing pretty well in the finals run last year?

Gids. Enough said.

Agreed.

The teams utter lack of consistency for 3 years, at what point do we start holding players accountable and ringing the changes.

We made the major semi-final last year, did you want us to wring the changes then? This season your argument is valid but they haven't had a chance to do it yet have they?

The season before last we brought in a few changes including Mason, Scott and Leilua just off the top of my head, and this after Bennett cleaned us out the year before.

Bennett admitting that whatever he is doing, isn't working and adapting.

I don't see how that is a tough club decision to be made. He has acknowledged it and you can only assume from that trying to rectify it. Do you think we'd be better off sacking Bennett?

Mids as CEO.

I don't really have a problem with him as CEO besides the tie to his brother. He speaks alright and I'm sure leaves most of the other stuff to the brains of the business. Bennett would be in charge of our recruitment and rightly so. At least he is not a compete dope running his mouth like half the other CEO's out there seem to be.

Recruitment and retention particularly refreshing the pack.

They tried to freshen up the pack two years ago. We signed Packer over the off-season and have been chasing props hard from all reports. I don't think you know what is going on behind closed doors so I don't think it's fair for you to say they aren't going all out this year.

Members council not calling out the circus that is HSG and Tinkler.

Giving HSG so much leeway in the current negotiations.

I can only assume that last season you were pretty happy with what Tinkler brought us. This year has been a dogfight of course, and the whole thing is an issue now, and I suspect something will be sorted out soon.

I still think a strong Tinkler is the best way forward for this club but it doesn't look likely anymore, and people are starting to figure that out.

I think the last few years have been a whirlwind of trying hard to shake things up for the better. Just because it hasn't worked out doesn't mean they haven't gone for it.

Boyd was fine tonight tbh. I mean I still think it's bizarre it was actually a set move to have him kick the field goal, who I've been informed has kicked 0 field goals in his career. Surely something got lost in translation there.

Was looking promising there for a while.
Forget Boyd and field goals. That kick from Gids was woeful.
Can go on about what mistakes were made at crucial times but they made a hell of a lot too.
For this one I'll go along with Bennett and say "It's our Season". It just isn't working for us but we can win games for sure. When is the big question.

Considering I thought we'd lose by 50, I can't be too disappointed.

It was nice of Manly to put in their worst performance of the year.

If be much happier if our next game against the Warriors was at home. So many away games is not helping. Yes we have a run of home games towards the end of the year, but it'll be far too late.
