Yeah I remember, it was much better than missing out by for and against though. I also loved the Tuesday night playoff game, it was like the finals arrived a couple of days early.
Did you go to the one when the floodlights went out? We all head to the bar.lol. :)

Stupid idea and the NRL should feel bad for considering it, but what ever doubt it will help the Eels!

It is a kneejerk reaction to last year's situation where the top 8 didn't change after round 13. They want less dead rubbers in the latter rounds. It's impossible to win the comp from outside the top 4 already. It will now be impossible to make the GF from 7th or lower.

Jesus there’s some dramatic motherf**kers on this forum.

I don’t see what the big deal is... it’s an extra week of football and provides hope for 2 more teams and fan bases.

Makes sense to me...

All this high and mighty argument about the sanctity of the competition is all horseshit...

If people seriously gave a shit about it they be running it home and away round robin like the EPL.

Except we all like the finals and the NRL are smart enough to realise this is an opportunity to make more money through 2 extra games as well as a whole extra finals week of publicity.

I see all this moaning about it but does anyone think it won’t rate well??

It just looks like easy money to me...

Why stop there though? Why not have teams 11 and 12 involved too? What makes teams 9 and 10 any better than 11 and 12.

What they should actually do is play the bottom 8 teams in a finals series as a prequel to the top 8 teams,
(9v12) (10v11) winners week off
(13v16)(14v15) loser eliminated
And so on, on grand final day the bottom 8 “grand finalists” actually play for a wooden spoon.

16th team could just tank in the finals series and “un-win” the wooden spoon.

Over kill I guess... too much too soon.

I’d love to see it though... just to see the f**king meltdown that would happen on here... :joy::joy:

So we could have a team win only 8 or 9 games in the regular season and win the comp.

It actually decreases the excitement as the last few games to decide 8th spot are often among the most exciting.

Someone was actually paid to come up with this crap.

I think it’s a great idea personally, but we need to expand to 18 teams !.
This. Surely expansion of the tournament as a whole would be linked to this? To 18 then to 20 teams. Any competition with over 50% of the teams advancing to post-season is ridiculous.
