Yeah that’s the one scenario I’d be ok with a playoff in. But inevitably that’d mean that some years you’d get playoffs and some years you wouldn’t. And I don’t think the media organisations would be too keen on that.

Were those play offs for 5th well received and supported back in the day? I just feel deciding it on points difference makes more sense.

Let’s not play with the one thing that currently works for the NRL.

How about bringing back Sunday arvo finals games in weeks 2 & 3, that’ll bring the crowds back rather than a Friday night game when traffic is shithouse.

Try shortening the season by 2-3 rounds, make each round mean something.

Be nice to have a draw where you don't play the same team twice in 4 weeks. How the f**k is that possible so many times when there are 16 teams in the conpetition?

Do these wildcard teams play at home or a finals “home city” stadium. And what’s the NRL reaction when 12k turn up and it rates as a mid-table game on tv, if they’re lucky

Just to put this in context;

Dragons (7) and Warriors (8) won 15 games in 2018.

Tigers (9) won 12 games,
Raiders (10) won 10 games.

Playoffs were great, fairest way to decide the finals. A team should not miss out on the finals on for and against.

Years ago,you would play for 5th spot on the Tuesday...then get hammered by who you played the following Saturday. There were a couple of exceptions especially Parra when they won 3 games in the space of 6 days or a week. Eventually it took its toll, but it goes down as one mighty feat.

Yeah I remember, it was much better than missing out by for and against though. I also loved the Tuesday night playoff game, it was like the finals arrived a couple of days early.

Jesus there’s some dramatic motherf**kers on this forum.

I don’t see what the big deal is... it’s an extra week of football and provides hope for 2 more teams and fan bases.

Makes sense to me...

All this high and mighty argument about the sanctity of the competition is all horseshit...

If people seriously gave a shit about it they be running it home and away round robin like the EPL.

Except we all like the finals and the NRL are smart enough to realise this is an opportunity to make more money through 2 extra games as well as a whole extra finals week of publicity.

I see all this moaning about it but does anyone think it won’t rate well??

It just looks like easy money to me...
