wow, that's quite a sponsorship.

Sure is, but you can see the appeal for the company ( SimCorp ). They will get their name attached to what will probably be the best sports training facility in Australia.

With the intent of doing the same thing for either a government or private party who'll pay them big money to replicate its success.

Actually I should clarify too, the Titans are owners of the facility, and did have financial input into the project. ( They actually took out a massive bank loan for it ) They did so after their initial sponsors who were going to build it went into liquidation.

Its completion is a year late because of this.

Here's an interesting link. Had no idea they went into so much personal debt. It had always been potrayed that a sponsor was building it - which is true - but the Titans financial commitment has been kept much more low key.

Hmmm big investment.

at least they're getting loans to invest the money.. rather than getting loans to stay afloat. an enviable position.

Yes

Leasing out 4 floors of their facility - if successful - would be a nice income stream for them.

No reason we couldn't explore similar things with outside football revenue investment when we get into a better financial position someday...

That way we can make the Top 8 every year, have an appealing financial climate that players will be attracted to, as well as a top line training facility, and then such threads won't even be required. ;-)

Haven't followed this thread guys but noticed the will you make the eight topic and without looking at your run leading up to round 26 I fear we may be involved in a shootout come the last round.

The Panthers have a fairly tough draw and will surely need to beat the Warriors this weekend to get to 26 points because thereafter the two wins we will surely need will be hard to come by.

As a Panther fan I would hate to have to go to your joint in the last round requiring a win to secure a spot in the top eight.

Hopefully both yourselves and the Panthers will be guaranteed a spot in the eight before round 26.

Good luck.

Haha god help us if we lose to the Panthers whether it stops us getting in to the 8 or not, we'll sure hear about it.

It might be a $13 Million loan, however if the facility is worth $30 Million that is a fair chunk of equity they have in it. How many other clubs have $17 Million free to spend on such stuff? It's a bit of a no brainer for the Bank - have very good security...but the club must be making some strong profit to be able to service the debt.

Don't write off the Panthers. We are not the finished product and yes we do rely heavilly on two or three individuals such as Lewis, Jennings and Petro.

Discount us at your own peril because as it stands we are one win in front of you guys and have a comparable differential.

I don't know about your run in as I have bothered to check as I believe we have to do the business and it is pointless worrying about what the other sides competing for the eight do.

Where did you pull that one from? Currently we are on the same amount of points and only 2 points the difference in F/A

I think the question has been answered tonight. Forget the Panthers - we couldn't get past the wooden spooners. Our season is done - we are wasting our time in the finals even if we are fortunate enough to scrape in.

Can you imagine the carnage that we may have to look forward to in the next few weeks.

Raiders beat the Broncos by a score that some of the Aussie batsmen would be happy to have next to their names. Cowboys flog the Titans, Melbourne perform well against the competition front runners and the Panthers show some pride to fight back and gain a draw. Oh, and lets not forget the Eels who are going okay as well.
