*bumped, since discussion of Hoppa's court case now has no bearing on the salary cap*

So Hoppa is chasing us for $1.83 million dollars in "damages" (and costs and interest) for a contract for which we claim the "Unexecuted Agreement did not constitute a binding contractual agreement".

I reckon if he wants the money, we pay it to him, on one condition.

He has to leave the Bulldogs, and sit on the bench for the remainder of this "contract" he is suing about. At Wenty.

Just on hoppa, for a player that never seems to break the line or beat anyone with pace i cant believe any club would offer him big money. When we signed him i thought he was getting paid massive overs but i also thought he had alot more speed.

After watching him play for us i thought his defence was soild and his passing skills were good. But we all saw how bad he was under the high ball when he played fullback for us.I know morris will go back into fullback once fit but were does that leave hoppa in the bulldogs side.He isnt quick enough for centre or wing.

He's quick enough for centre ... there are centres in the NRL who arent lightning quick ... he will replace stanley at centre for the dogs.

His main advantages as an NRL player are his footy IQ (he generally can sum up a situation and make good decisions), his ability to setup his winger and his defense is generally very good.

I dont think he has lived up to the potential everyone saw in his rookie days at manly, but i think parra fans are being overly harsh judging him ... he is a very good, reliable player - not a star. Its not his fault an imbecile CEO who no one was keeping an eye on threw the keys to the bank at him

I'm still astonished by the reported amount he is seeking. I understand he may of lost some dollars for the 2016 season, but how is he losing money beyond this season. If he was worth more $$$, surely he would of signed a one year deal with the dogs, and given himself the entire 2016 season to secure a better deal for 2017 and beyond.

The hopoate's. Nothing but finger dippers and gold diggers.

And apparently Hoppa's got leadership skills... because he's a committed Mormon who did his missionary stint? His manager must have spun that well to add some dollars to his contract value.

I would think that he could only claim genuine loss + interest. No court would agree that he his reputation has suffered.

Most of these cases are settled the day before and I would expect that Hoppa wants that. If our advice is that there is no contract, then we should ensure that it goes to hearing and take him for costs.

There is two sides to every story. IIRC we have only heard one side so far. You could be right about us being dumb, but you also could be wrong.

The Eels doing something right will never attract any media coverage.

We dodged a huge bullet. No way in the world he'll get awarded anywhere near 1.8 mill. He may seem like a poster boy, with his bike riding expedition but he's showing his colours now.
