BTW, I was thinking about the timing of the "I don't play on Sundays thing". If I was the lawyer for Parra, I'd subpoena Hoppa's new contract. After all he's claiming loss of earnings and we need to quantify his numbers.

Now we find out from Dessie that the Sunday thing was up front and part of his deal. No doubt the Dogs would have slashed their offer if the merkin could not train or play on Sundays.

It seems to me that we might have released this info to the media.

Were they religious but you didn't think they were great leaders, or do you think they were great leaders who weren't religious?

We'd love to hear the stats which "prove" this

There is two sides to every story. IIRC we have only heard one side so far. You could be right about us being dumb, but you also could be wrong.

I dont think Hop will get his full claim but would you agree that any sort of compensation or damages would make us look dumb or incompetent?

btw, I've been vocal about this before the story actually broke about 6 or so months ago and I'm pleased that any sort of payment wont come under the cap, I was really concerned about this..

No body knows the details stagger. Maybe hoppa informed the eels after all parties agreed to terms, that he isn't available Sunday's.

Gronk certainly raises some good points. Maybe he's out of pocket because he can't play or train Sunday's.

You're looking for me to agree with you that hypothetically we're incompetent if we end up paying Hoppa a few hundred k ?

I'll give you a return serve hypothetical: What about if the "re-assessment" of the Hoppa situation was about the time that Jenkovich showed interest in the Eels ? Would it be a good commercial decision to f**k Hoppa off and sign Jenkovich ? I say yes. In the big picture whatever happens with Hoppa is outside the cap and we end up with Jenkovich, with the Roosters paying some of his freight.

We dodged a huge bullet. No way in the world he'll get awarded anywhere near 1.8 mill. He may seem like a poster boy, with his bike riding expedition but he's showing his colours now.

We definitely dodged a bullet.

But only after purchasing the gun, loading the bullets, pointing it at our temple, amd pulling the trigger.

The answer to the fantasy question posed is that the contract offer to Hopoate was still incomplete.

There shouldn't have had to be a "reassessment".

We should have been free to snap up a world class, far better centre, with no risk of any complications.

The very fact we had to scramble to get out of the clusterf**k shows how incompetent it was in the first place.

The fact is we f**ked Hopoate around as a result of a staggeringly stupid offer and at best woeful corporate governance (I still believe it's a massive smother to solely blame Soward and we've been lied to).

If it doesn't come off the cap we should be paying him something now and f**king it off.

You've filled in a lot of the blanks yourself and added a heap hysteria for colour.

I'll wait for the facts and feed them to the lions if and when it's necessary.

Maybe you can enlighten us with the facts, re hoppa...

He's not on our playing roster and we signed Jennings. Massive upgrade.

Do you realise that the journalist has the court pleadings?

And that our defence admits that he was sent the offer in wiring, which he signed and sent back the very next day?

And that Hopoate is clearly suing on a substantial difference between that written offer sent on behalf of our club and accepted by him that he is now out of pocket for?

Even allowing for the fact that the claim will be an ambit claim, and that there may be some defences relating to the need to have a contract tregistered and approved by the nrl in this context, there is no factual vaccuum here. There are some very obvious inferences available.

I see your apologist approach is being supported by tweedledum and tweedledumber.

What's even stupider than your head in the sand approach is the mental giant's claim that Hopoate can't sue if he signed another contract. I've never seen anyone be so confident about things but be completely wrong every time. You are in good company with th Apologist Amigos there
