Worth a mention....i forgot how little wine featured in SEAsia. Walked into the little grog shop across the road...Jacobs Creek range is RM 140 (about 47 bucks, haha). Think Ill stick to my RM14 longnecks of Tiger and/or Anchor Pilsener

I remember visiting my folkes years ago when they used to live in Bangsar (suburb of KL), and Little Yering was cheaper there than home. I had no clue how that worked, just assumed someone entered the data wrong.

Considering how cheap most items are in Asia, the price of wine there is horrendous. Not helped, I suppose, by the lack of local product. That, and the ginormous amount of tax applied. They seem to be protecting non-existent industry.

Enjoyed a 2010 Teusner The Riebke Shiraz on Friday night. Very nice drop for the price, $20 from memory.

Not that big on bubbles, but I have a celebration tomorrow night (touch wood) as I am sitting a piece of final assessment in the morning. She has bought a bottle of 2002 Pol Roger Vintage. I am a tad concerned it will be wasted on me as i really don't drink bubbles except to toast.

Anyone on here an aficionado on the delicate bouncing bubbles ?

I struggle with bubbles. Vintage champagne is really, really good but also for people with far better palettes than I...

Yeah I didn't really get much enjoyment out of it, nice but certainly not my choice of rehydration. The beautiful bride loved it though.

Skuttlebutt "Orto Vino" 2008. Red blend of Iberian grapes (52% Tempranillo, 28% Granacha/Grenache, 13% Touriga, 7% Tinta Cao). Very well balanced table wine, easy drinking with enough savory and sweet notes to keep everyone happy.

Altos Las Hormigas Mendoza Malbec Clasico 2009. Argentinian Malbec, rediculously juicy if not chewy. Heaps of red fruit and vanilla, with a lick of tobacco on the finish. Yum.
