I am going to go out on a limb and say that since Cameron Smith is likely to win the Dally M medal, Melbourne will not win the comp.

Wasn't there even some recognition at the ceremony in 2004 of Gower as the rightful 2003 winner?

Are you sure?

I remember they didn't poll votes for the final round, and it was revealed that Gower was only ahead of Fittler and Schifcofske by one point.

I remember Schif had an absolute barry in round 26, but I seem to recall Fittler having a strong performance.

I was just checking back at some records and discovered that since the NRL was founded in 1998 (the same year the Dally M became the games official award) the player who has won the Dally M medal has not gone on to win the Grand Final.

The winner of the Dally M Medal will not win the Grand Final with his club in that year.

The Cowboys were already going to have to buck a pretty massive trend to win the grand final, even before this.

As far as I'm aware no team that has had 50 points scored against them during the season has gone on to win the grand final.

The Last Dally M Medallist to be in a premiership winning team was Sterlo in 1986!

Ray Price in 1982 and Michael Potter in 1984 are the only other ones.

As far as I'm aware no team that has had 50 points scored against them during the season has gone on to win the grand final.

For the Cowboys to go on and win the title would break a number of hoodoos. Team with a negative points differential, team conceding 50.. even 60+ points during the season, Dally M hoodoo etc

I wouldn't be putting my hard earned on them.
