Charity Shield: Dragons and Souths to play in Wollongong

The Dragons' Illawarra fans are likely to get a sooner-than-expected chance to see how their rejuvenated squad shapes up as WIN Stadium firms as the venue for the Charity Shield.
In what would be a major fillip for Red V's South Coast fans, Wollongong's marquee venue is close to helping St George Illawarra and South Sydney officials escape a stadium bind.
It would be the first time the clash would be played outside ANZ Stadium in eight years.
Organisers were forced to look for an alternate venue for the game after Sydney's biggest stadium booked an Eminem concert on Saturday, February 22.
Allianz Stadium was rendered unavailable.

Sadly, I could see this coming. The game had to be moved and rumours were that Kogarah would be getting one back to redress the inbalance - it looked like a no-brainer... but I just knew it would be Wollongong. If they can move the traditional Saints vs Sharks 'local derby' to W'gong, then it's nothing for them to shift the St George v Souths C.S. game there as well.
