Women's NRL

Having seen a bit of the women's club rugby union competition a while back(not sure if it still exists, and yes I know it isn't "professional") where Shute Shield sides ran out a women's team at the end of the day when everyone else was already back in the clubhouse starting the festivities...

I suspect this competition will most likely be dominated by the areas with the most Polynesian women. And I am doubting there will be enough money going around that players will relocate to play for their non-local club.

Afl lost money last year partly due to the cost of starting up the women’s comp.
nrl is losing money without a Womens comp.
They’ll go with locations where a leagues club can help with the costs in all Likelihood.

Cronulla were the first club to offer a women's contract. They've also hosted all but the final of the women's RLWC. I doubt we will miss out on a team.
How much commitment have other clubs shown so far?

Georgia Hale is a full time employee at the Warriors. Iirc a few years the Kiwi Ferns sponsor pulled out at the last second, and the Warriors covered the gap. I believe the Warriors for a number of years have been quite involved with women's rugby league in quite meaningful ways.

Part of the reason I don't believe the Warriors will be included. It would become a costly exercise from a travel perspective I would think for the revenue created.

I've said this before and been shot down. The girls should play in Lorna Jane type performance pants. Similar to the new "full length" pants the girls in Legends Football League play in. It is a slicker, better and more fashionable look than footy shorts.

From NRL media:

To ensure the competition is as strong as possible, officials hope the majority of players from the Jillaroos and Kiwi Ferns teams involved in the final, won 22-16 by Australia, would play – all but ensuring the New Zealand Warriors are one of the six clubs awarded licences.

Interesting. Imagine if the lady Warriors take out the comp. The blokes couldn't win a comp in a brothel raffle with one ticket only.
I'd imagine if two thirds of the national team that went close in the WC threw a Warriors jersey on...

They'd do just as well as the Warriors have always done.

Sounds like the NRL. The score is wrong. Usual fine attention to detail.

If they’re aligned to current teams, will they still have the same names such as Cowboys? and lesser extent, Raiders, Knights?

There wasn't much detail in the announcement, six team comp, round robin over five weeks. So, only five games each?

Oh well, we have to start somewhere I guess and, as someone else said, the NRL has totally surprised me by not wanting to get left behind again.
