Wooden spoon: the match of the round?

ROUND 9 - August 13th to August 23rd

Pirates v Lions

The battle for the wooden spoon! And a different kind of grand final.

Forget the battle for the minor premiership or the struggle to secure a top 5 spot, there can be no greater motivation than to avoid holding the spoon.

Its clear cut that the winner will kick clear while the loser will be stuck in the celllar over the offseason

So will the Pirates sidestep the unenviable achievement of going from premiers to spooners in one year, or will the Lions be able to post their first victory of 2006?

Anyone care to place some odds?

I reckon the Lions can overcome the Pirates if they can get all five articles in. But only time will tell... ;-)

Pirates $1.66, Lions $2.30

If the Lions could patch things up and sweet talk EA out of retirement for one more game then....

Pirates: $2.00 Lions $1.90

Pirates squad have been looking, er... "understrength" lately. Will they be able to bring a full squad, or will the Lions prevail?

At this stage I think $2.30 for Lions minus EA is pretty good value Rexxy?

The mail is that EA has retired, for this season at least. Actually, it was posted in the F7s mgt forum.

Just the same, I'm going to put $2 each way on the Lions and the Pirates are going in my quinella. Its a sure bet and as they say in the classics, an excellent investment opportunity.

If that happens, the Lions get the spoon.

What odds on a draw Rexxy?

I think I'll now wait to see who the ref is before sticking my neck out any further....

my moneys on the pirates to all write artcles about jeremy john moheky, porrirura local, antonius to have the mother of all dummy spits (can i say that? ;-) ), give them all big fat 0's and the lions to walk away with the biggest win in sevens history, all scoring perfect 100's :D

GO LIONS

tbh, all it would take is for those pesky kids to start reading from "the Book of Prefontaine" and they'd be home fo sho.

this will probably be my last sevens match and possibly the last of the coos bay pirates as well. we've been an incredible let-down this season but you have to understand, it has been a very difficult period for us. last year it was all about pre, we had to win the competition for pre - so we did just that. but we just didn't have the same inspiration this year and obviously our panache suffered as a result. anyway i've got a pretty rad article in the works

next season i'd like to become a ref

The Moheky factor will get the pirates home
no doubt with the warriors and tigers struggling, young jeremy has been giving it to the pirates for doubting young todd carney

if the pirates get all 5 in and at least 2 are about Moheky, they will win, if not the lions in a canter
