boxa, why would someone not be welcome in a Steelers jersey?

Probably a bit harsh. Just my experience with quite a few that wear the Illawarra strip is that they're pretty divisive and fixed on the past and not the present. Generally still bitter at the merger.

If like the Steel Dragon he is in amongst it and digging in, I have no issues with the Steeler jumper being worn. Good on him.

But discussing football politics is almost as pointless as discussing real politics..

Id also like to point out that the St George and Illawarra parts of the Dragons name are meaning the Regions they represent, not the teams.

We are St George Illawarra because our players, fans, sponsors, home grounds and clubs are based in those regions.

Gee guys we should all be sharing the love at the moment.

Ill admit i have a steelers jersey in my cupboard, not that i was a steelers fan, but I picked it up as a momento of the past. Im sure there are thousands of Steelers fans who now proudly wear the red vee.

The Dragons Army is the St George Dragons Army and not the St George Illawarra Dragons Army. True or Not ???

I am keen to arm up, but, I have heard some nonsense about "poor cousins" or some rubbish and am a bit sceptical. ?

As you can tell, I'm from the Illawarra farm.

Is that you BBSF?

But if ever there was to be a trial match again between St George vs the Steelers, i bet my left testical that 99.99% of the Dragon Army would be on the red vee side of the hill, myself included. The other 0.1% are at the bar.

Hahaha! If that ever happened, I'd do my darnest to give it to you 99%ers!
Cant seem to see myself winning that one though....

Legend has it that Major has three anyway.
Losing the left would put him on the same level as us mere mortals.

What's the point of such a divisive topic. There's only one thing important. And that's not where we've come from.

It's where we're heading to, and hopefully it'll be to the podium to receive a trophy of two muddy warriors on Grand Final Evening.

So let's get behind the boys.

Great responses. Funny stuff. I'd had a few when I wrote the original post, lol.

Appologies for any offence.

I had a blast on Sunday @ kogorah in the Army.

If I could go to the Cauldron I would.

Bring us home a friken premiership and shove it up those Bonco supporters a$$'s redVarmy!

It doesn't really matter anymore does it the whole Dragon/Steeler thing? Steelers were dieing, it was apparent only one "southern Sydney districts" team would survive. Steelers were falling appart. Sharks went to super league to get bailed out. St George were going ok but wouldn't survive unless they grabbed a bigger market share to get in front of the Sharks.

Match made in Heaven. Illawarra still get first grade games and a financial bail out, St George out manouvered Cronulla and secured more juniors. St George has always had a huge army, so its natural the current one would tend to be pro St George.

Now all we need is for Cronulla to move or collapse. Death ride the Sharkies everyone, not each other. St George Illawarra... the premier Southern Districts team.

Thats about the best summation of the situation that i've heard.
I especially agree with the sentiments 'get behind our combined club so that the sharks wither and die'
