That is all.

Most played sport at junior level in USA now.
Biggest sport in Asia.
No other sport comes close to football as far as support is concerned.

League
AFL
Cricket
Union

Football would have 3 to 4 times as much support as those combined.

I'm pretty sure I heard on the news about 4 months ago it is now the most played junior sport in Australia.

That counts girls and boys. It also is seen as a 'safer' sport by parents. Having played it though when you get past those junior years, it can be far from safe

I'd say you only need to look at the amount of countries that go through qualifying for the World Cup to see how big the sport is. Bigger in some countries then others, but it ain't called the 'World Game' for no reason.

Some countries even see it as bigger than the Olympics. There would be close to the same amount of countries go to the Olympics as there is countries who try to qualify for the WC.

THE World Cup is a bigger sporting event than the Olympics. No questions about that.

I think that sums up how big football is.

Africa. The game is massive in that continent.

Don't be sucked in to thinking that the national game of South Africa is rugby union. Soccer dwarfs it in popularity. No other sport comes close in the rest of the continent.

Best club team in Africa?? ST GEORGE, of Ethiopia!!

Well its basically the national sport of almost every single country in the world. However there are more affiliated nations in FIBA the international body for basketball with around maybe 210 countries in it or could be more, FIFA. You probably could say that Basketball would be the nearest rival for global supremacy.

How popular is it in India?

Athletics is very popular also .....

Thats a good question. Thats why cricket would rank as one of the giant sports in Asia because it is India's national game and It has a population of about a billion. Not to mention Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with a combined population of about 300 million. However there is about 50 million soccer players currently in India. It would probably rank second to cricket.

It is? Ok no problem, I await the powerful Africa clubs to start signing Beckhem or whoever with interest.
So all those world class Athletes have been wasting thier time.
I think African sport I think athletics. I will now try and think of some wanker scoring and running away from his team mates to celebrate.

Whne you're talking about it being the world game, it's meaning countries, not club football. Of course a player like Beckhem won't sign for an African club, the money is not their, nor the appeal of the leagues they play in.

The African Nations Cup is huge. And they get a number of entries to the World Cup.

A club other than a European or South American team will never be the best in the world. That doesn't detract from the fact that it's played by so many others. Nor does it change the fact the football is the World Game.

The world game when half the world could not give a sh*te - fair enough you soccer fans just keep calling it that whatever rocks your boat.

I do not dispute soccer is large and played by many.

It is like religion in Europe and SA.

The Olympics - now there is the world games.

Can I call English the world language??
