LOL, after only nine years...

I am kinda surprised people are still playing this. The game changed so much since it launched, and has been dumbed down in a big way. Or at least that is what I thought when I gave up playing it in 2010 after five years.

Definitely still dumbed down. It's at the point where you can't really even see the zones in a given area (Northrend, for example) because you're leveling too fast for them.

When they launched the Warlords pre-patch, it got hard again in a really fun way. You needed to actually drink/eat to keep mana up, you couldn't just draw every mob in a dungeon etc.

People complained and so it's back to being easy again.

Was a good few days.

Guild Wars 2 likes to dumb things down too. Must be the new thing. They've redone a bunch of the lower level progression, calling it 'New Player Experience', level-gating skills/traits etc that you could previously get much sooner because it was 'too overwhelming'.

Everyone's personal favourite though is how they removed a heart (GW2 quest equivalent) because it was 'too confusing' for new players: you had to pick up some cow feed and use it on the cow to feed the cow. Too confusing.

It's like they think character level corresponds to player age or something.

While I do appreciate it being a quicker leveling experience when I'm trying to prepare a new toon for endgame, I do miss when the game was:

a). Challenging
b). Exploration based

Every single objective is mapped out now. You can basically just fly everywhere, touch down to grab the objective, and do one big loop. No real reason to even look at the zone you're in.

It's also possible to basically instance your way all the way to level 90 now.

I miss the days of getting banned for botting while I was at work in order to make enough gold for raiding Vanilla.

Ogres in Deadwind were such a gold mine. Certainly learned my lesson though. Wasted a lot of hours to be wiped out in an instant.

It's been a real good news, bad news launch for Warlords of Draenor.

Good news: new expansion looks and plays wonderfully. Feels epic from the get go. Phased introduction is fantastic. The Timeless Isle style bonus quests, wondering rare-spawns, and treasure chests make it really worthwhile exploring.

Bad news: Awful launch. Servers were a mess. Solution was to cap server numbers, which means it's a 2-3 hour wait if you want to get on.

Yep, waiting a week before logging in. First week is always a mess because of the sheer numbers and I heard this is more of the case this expansion.
Also heard it could be best expansion yet though

I just cancelled my subscription.

Launch was 6.45pm Thursday - Didn't get to actually play due to latency issues and quest bugs until 1am. Played until 4.30am.

Woke up Friday - 2.5 hour queue. Got in at 2pm and played until 6pm.

PC crashed.

Queued from 8pm until midnight. Servers down until 4am.

Got home today. Tried to log in at 5pm. 3-4 hour queue.

Servers going down at 11pm.

Not even worth it.

Was queued between 11am-8pm yesterday. Finally got in but was then busy with other various things. Finally sit down at about midnight and realised the servers went down. Server times are a bit quicker today, but still taking too long. I got near the front of the queue earlier today, only for my internet to disconnect.

Don't know if it has been mentioned before but if you jsut afk in RFC or Stocks the server wont boot you, so you wont need to re'q, also servers seem to be slowly going back up to full capacity... aside from the 8 hour q i had to cop on FM the leveling experience in this xpac has been a breath of fresh air...

just hit 100 probably wont be able to play at all tomorrow as i have work and won't get on server in its current state, probably have to wait until next weekend before i'll get a chance to log on at 4am with no q.

Queues were still long today (2-4 hours) but I got on at 10am and have been on until now.

Really, really enjoying the content. It makes levels 1-85 look like a steaming pile of crap, and made a pretty decent MoP leveling experience look a tad dull too.

Hated MoP in it's complete entirety. Made me cancel sub after a few weeks of playing.

This is the complete opposite though. I love it. So much. Currently 98 and have had very little server issues playing on Saurfang Alliance.

What did you hate about MoP?

I'll admit I baulked at the cheesiness of pandas and pet battles, but I found the zones were all beautiful and the questing experience was a lot more fun than previous x-pacs had been.

WoD is beating it hands down, though. Is it wrong that I'm reluctant to have to go 'back' to Azeroth after this?

I wish they'd fix the draw distance problems, worst thing trying to look into the distance and it's just some sludgy purple stuff where there should be mountains and scenery Kind of cuts the epicness of the game i reckon.

I'm still hoping they can get to work on Warcraft 4 now that they have split the timelines, it is the perfect time to do so lore wise, and with Starcraft 2 wrapping up next year. All the arguments against it are gone, now is the time to strike the iron.

I hated the pandas first and foremost, farming was a pain in the arse, and i just didn't enjoy many of the zones at all. Did a few raids but my favorite was Seige of Org, even though I didn't finish it.

I think I was burnt out a lot by playing Horde. I always favoured Alliance but moved across a few years ago to play with old guildies / mates.

Realise now I hated it and thats probably why I played on and off so much.

I was genuinely surprised when they didn't announce it at Blizzcon, but Overwatch needed to stand on its own.

I've heard rumours that WarCraft 4 + an update of the original trilogy was in the works. Would love the opportunity to play them again with improved graphics and their lore properly aligned with the new setup.
