sorry ink...did i upset you.
My apologies.
I refer back to post 71. The most intelligent post thus far.
Nothing i say will change your mind and nothing you say will change mine. IF you think the Tigers would have beaten or gotten close to the Oz team...thats fine.

No dear, you didnt uspet me...;-)

You couldnt if you tried.

If anything this year has taught me though , and I'd have thought most other league fans too ....it would be to not discount anything.

The way people are treating this suggestion is the same way people wouldve reacted to a suggestion in Feb of Wests winning the comp.

The simple answer is no, man to man Australia win nearly every match up hands down, only place the Tigers compete is in the halves but they're up against the 2 best players in the game in Johns and Lockyer.

But it was only a couple of years ago in the 100th test between Australia and NZ that a dreadful NZ side (Thomas Leuleuai, enough said) that wouldn't compare to a lot of club sides managed to get up against Australia. Then again you could count out the the Tigers as Marshall and Halatau apparently flare up with injury at the share mention of international football lol.

thats good honey...wouldnt want to upset one of my fav forum members. ;-)
Yes 2005 has been a very strange yr that definately didnt follow the "norm".
However, i am in no doubt that with Andrew Johns leading the way for australia and with his coherts in Lockyer, Buderus and Minichiello right behind him i dont think any club side would come close to winning.
You think differently and that is to be expected, you are a tigers fan and have every right to defend that notion that they indeed could win.

So let me get this staright, the panthers thumped the tigers in the last round, the storm thumped the tigers in the 2nd last round imagine what they would do to the Australian side. Yeah Right

Cant you tigers fans accept like everyone else has that you deserved the premiership, that doesnt make you the best in the world.

Its how you play on the day.The tigers would not get within 30 of the aussie side and thats not downgrading the tigers acheivements, its being realistic.

We should get a good gauge on the weekend because the tigers are the 2nd New Zealand team.

Do you always contradict yourself?

At first you talk about...........

the panthers thumped the tigers in the last round, the storm thumped the tigers in the 2nd last round

.....and then you waffle on about ....

Its how you play on the day

What is it?

i dont see why they could if u took out johns

lets face it everyone of those players from the tigers are playing brilliantly in form while for the roo team

Ryles,Ryan,Waterhouse,Gower,FitzGibbon and Tate can consider themselves lucky to be there. and when you add that lockyers playing like a nuffy i think the tigers have some better players than them at the moment.

Tigers certainly could beat the current Australian side. They have several Kiwi internationals, and players such as Skandalis, Hodgson, Farah who have warranted Australian representation not just for this season.

It's really not a bad question. Essentially the question is, can a side who has bonded with the adition of skill and confidence of a NRL GF win beat a team of austalia's best who are all great in their individual teams.
In theory sounds great, would never happen even though no tigers players are in this weekends game. This would be a promoters dream!

The point is you guys are carrying on like the tigers are the best team to ever grace the earth, i never seen bulldogs fans last year, panthers fans the year b4 or roosters fans the year b4 that question if their side would beat the aussie side.

The nrl comp was very close and with the enivitable parra and saints choke any one of the top 10 sides could of won, even penrith and the roosters but the tigers got a roll on and good luck to them, but the NRL clubs are not an Australian team.

Enjoy it while you can, because it will most likely be another generation b4 another one, thats the nature of this comp.

No, thats not the point.....no ones saying the Tigers are the best team ever...only you are, several neutral posters have stated this is a fair hypothetical debate.
Seems like you avoid questions as well as contradicting yourself. Hmmm

Daniel Fitzhenry scored a try in a winning Grand Final.

How many players out of the thousands that have played First Grade can lay claim to that?

Besides, Scott Minto makes Daniel Fitzhenry look like Gansier, Raper, Johns, Kenny and Langlands combined.

He also makes Quasimodo look like Brad Pitt!

The tigers had a lucky finals series. there is no way they could beat Australia.

I wouldnt say lucky, they beat the team that beat you guys twice in 4 weeks, does that mean you were unlucky, they got on a great roll and through scott prince took control of the game when it could have went either way.

and insaneboy, if your uncle had a vagina hed be your auntie, hypothetical or not you yourself know that you wouldnt win.

Is it fair for me to say the roosters would have won if finch was in reserve grade, fact is didnt happen, unfortunatly wont happen.

Yet theyd have NO chance against the Roos?
