Not sure, I’d have to check official or the lads here.Is Robbie Mears still coaching H Matt’s?

He’s more active & involved than Siro ever was.He has already told both coaches of HM & Sg ball that they r gone after this season ends which is approx 3 wks away for the cellar-dwellers.I prefer at junior rep cup level to have both magpies & tigers teams.Balmain have had a habit of punching above their weight.Problem has been the politics & unmerited kids been picked ahead of more talented ones coz of influence of their obnoxious coach or old man through sponsorship.I liked Siro as a player but he was hopeless in running the Balmain juniors.Awesome.
You said he will make the hard decisions Ted. He strikes me as a quiet guy?? What sort of stuff are we talking about...selections??
Am I on my Pat Malone with the one club comment?
Balmain seems too weak/financially to field a KOE side.

Sorry i saw myself tagged and didnt get a chance to reply.
I have read a few posts so i will just chuck in hear what i know.
Robbie Mears, i am unsure what he is doing rep wise but he is assistant coach/trainer fro Camden Rams U16s this season. His Son Elijah is in the team and was 1 of the hookers for the Tigers Andrew Johns Cup team this season. Hes a really good hooker but just has no size. Could be one of those kids that can never put on weight or bulk. But that doesnt stop him in the ruck. He never shirks any work and having the smallest frame in games he is always 1st one to hit and stick in defence. He uses his team mates well to have them come in and finish the tackle as he has wrapped up the ball.
Harold Matts Coach is Stephen Isdale. A very very good Coach who was an assistant the last 2 seasons. He has a couple of very good kids in there that are still eligable for next year. There was possibly a a whisper or 2 about Mears not picking some Kids for game time even when they were out of Finals contention last season. But as i said Isdale is an excellent Coach plus as most of you have pointed out this season and what i mentioned last year, there is an excellent crop of Kids coming through. Ill say it again, an excellent crop. Just have to be given time to develop. Tigers fans, I know its har going at the moment in 1st grade and all that but these Kids need time. Unreal talent coming through.
SG Ball are sitting nicely and play 2 out of their last 3 games against teams outside the 8. Again the talent is there and there have an excellent Coach. You can see the fruits of some of these Kids being in the Top 30 squad coming back and playing against there own age.
I read some posts about Balmain and Wests having seperate identities in Matts and SG Ball. You have to remember the logistics involved in this. Its really hard for Parents to get home from Work and get their Kids to training at 5pm or 6pm in peak hour traffic if you live in Leichardt trying to get to St Gregorys College (where Wests train) or vice versa if you work in the City, train it to Campbelltowm then commute to Leichhardt Oval for Balmain trainings. Its a tough ask. With Tarsha Gale and its a grind as they mix the trainings up to accomodate players from both regions.
1 thing that i havent heard much about is the new Sports School unvailed last year. MacArthur Sports HS. Everything seems to be quiet on that front.
Good luck this week
Like Tumethflegg looks weak, however it becoming a bit of a nothing comp now. It seems clubs are holding the good 18/19 year olds back in Ball , then progressing them to nsw cup, Flegg is starting to be a comp for 20/21 year olds who wont ever get past nsw cup deals.
That's awesome feedback mate.Afternoon all

Wests Tigers youngster reportedly impressing club officials...
One of the best players in the Harold Matthew Cup competition, young centre Heamasi Makasini is reportedly impressing club officials at the Wests Tigers.
A member of the Western Suburbs Magpies, Wide World of Sports reports that he has impressed club officials over the past few weeks by scoring 54 points in three games. These points came from five tries and 17 goals.
A player to watch in the competition's final four rounds, his performances on the field will be key to the Magpies' success.
While he has undoubtedly caught the eye of fans and officials, the Tigers could face some competition for the youngster in the future as he is also a member of the Under-16s NSW Waratahs team and represented the Under-16s Australian rugby union side last year.
A student of Newington College, his physical presence in attack and defence, football intelligence and skill have created him into a future NRL talent.
He also represented the Under-16s City team last year, bagging a double within two minutes.
We've talked about this guy for a while now but I think he's really come on this year.
Wests Tigers youngster reportedly impressing club officials
He was selected to represent the U16s Australia team in rugby union.www.zerotackle.com
I know how he feels, I really do.We all know he has talent. But let this sink in for you.
He goes to Newington College which is in the inner West. Im unsure on where he lives but with the College situated where it is he will no doubt have to travel so thats getting up at the cack of dawn and not getting home till late.
Matts train at St Gregorys Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays are Rugby trainings with games on Sundays.
Thats no days off. Zero.
This guy will make it in 1 of the 2 codes with that type of commitment and attitude. Add that to his talent, he is special
Yeah, but back in your day, you learnt how to drink like a champion, something these kids won’t learn for a long time hahahaI know how he feels, I really do.
When I was 18 going on 19 I gave up league to play rep rugby, but before I did when playing 2 codes I only had Tuesday night off from any footy and worked as an apprentice electrician during the day. I Played Saturday Union and Sunday League.
I'm only telling you this because as I said, I know how the lad feels, no other reason.
All I can say is when your young you can do it, the goodins are like sponges.
The only regret for me is I dropped out of uni to pursue my footy dream.
It's the hard part and I'm sure he'll agree with this.
American footy has it's college system where schooling and footy are one..if your grades drop you don't make the team [well that's how it used to be]
We have similar don't we.. but I'm unsure how it really works if the lad plays NRL early...choose I guess.
Having been told about him by you I'm sure we will all be closely watching the gem.
That is so true though Tm.Yeah, but back in your day, you learnt how to drink like a champion, something these kids won’t learn for a long time hahaha
That was after training, and after games, beers and ciggy’s hahahaThat is so true though Tm.
The best part about playing footy was after the game in the sheds.
They say "what happens on the field stays on the field"...it more than applies to the sheds hey Tm.
I bet you were like a Gary Freeman terrier who played like one and partied hard....am I right?
